I dont think so that there will be a poker boom as before in 2000s and FullTilt time but who knows. Its really sad that US players cant play because player pool is really big there, a lot of fishes too. It would be a lot better for PokerStars and other sites to get american players there. Poker is becoming more complicated and skilled as it were before when luck was a very important role then lol. Now players are learning GTO and other stuff which fun players dont like.

I don't see a another boom happening unless the USA loosen it's strangle hold on it being totally legal in all states. Also I live in Texas and really doubt it will ever be legal. We're right in the middle of the "Bible Belt".

I also believe so. I think it is a tendency for poker to be recognized by all people as a game of skill that involves several strategic factors.
Casinos are banned in many places due to the lack of control of some players, there are still many compulsive players who end up getting lost in the game

In Michigan they just made it legal but we can only play with people in are state so it limits the number of players. Plus we are waiting for poker sites to make contract with state so we cant play yet.

Poker boom would be possible if all the players in the US be allowed to play on Poker Stars. Or the tournament will be held, such as SSHA / Russia. It will raise the excitement in the poker world. Or international USA / CHINA / RUSSIA / EU has attracted great interest in the tournament, and a lot of money for PokerStars.

Don't think we will anything close to what we did in early 2000. We had people flooding to casinos and to the internet. We have lost the American market of online and less are playing live for any significant amount of money.

Goldrush is over and a few internet sites are now ghost towns.

I agree with this. I don't think there will be another boom. I think what you have now is a large base of players with few legit places to play, and a small trickle of new players. And this is going to be the extent of it.

Even should it be legalized in the US, there won't be an influx of new players. For anyone that wants to play there are already sights accepting US players - ACR, BOL, Bovada, to name a few.


The boom is over, now it's down to those that enjoy the game, and degenerate gamblers. At least until the AI super-bots come along to kill all the fun.

I think it's a steady market that can only really go down.

When times get tough (like now with COVID-19) people spend more money on comfort foods and treats. Others in these times also look for ways to improve their lives and often turn to a search for more cash. Poker could be a solution to provide the cash.

I don't think the games will ever be as juicy as they were due to the easy access to information, but i certainly think that we could see the same volume of players little by little.

gambling is very dangerous for those who can't control themselves or don't have an understanding of the underlying odds (most people) and that's why casino's are often banned. It's in the best interest of the people for them to be protected from temptation.

That being said if you're someone who's able to master this and master yourself, the world of speculating can be a beautiful one, and I'm grateful to be a part of it!

do you remember the days in your hometown, when there were poker games on every corner at least that was how it was where i live. i miss the old days, if poker shuts down online. I expect it will be home games again, they still have them, but not as much.

I sure hope people turn to POKER to help pass all the idle time. Many of us are not used to being stuck at home and playing poker is a great way to occupy your mind. Its a much better way to spend time rather than obsessing on the Coronavirus news.

Its a tough call. I think for there to be a boom all the U.S. states would need to alow poker! It Pokerstars and others could offer poker to all U.S states the yes a boom bigger than the big bang! The thing is I don't see that happening if it was going to it would have by now!
