My main tip is to look for tournaments with fewer players.
Gradually, move into larger tournaments.
The more players there are in the tournaments, the greater the game variance and the longer the time.
In games with fewer players, you can get through all the stages of a tournament in a short amount of time, which isn't realistic when we're talking about very large tournaments, where sometimes we can't even reach the money.
Another great thing about smaller tournaments is that you can get used to the final table dynamic, as it's different from the one used throughout the tournament, because each player who falls means a jump in the money.

I know and there in lays the problem of labeling anyone that can make a decent amount of money a "poker pro". Where does one actually draw the line? 50%, 60%, or 75% + of earnings from playing poker? And who's gonna trust any poker players word on what % of their winning is solely from poker. I'm not dumb enough to trust any poker players word completely.

Is a criminal a poker pro if comes in and makes a bunch of money while laundering money? The list of questions like this goes on and on. It certainly an interesting question and debate "what makes a pro player?"

you can win $200 a month and be considered a professional if that's your income for living, or you can win $20k and be an amateur. It's not about the size of the winnings, but whether poker is your main income? As for the example with a criminal who launders money through poker... yes, he will probably seem like a professional, if of course the profit is positive))) BUT he will not be one in essence.

Idk but there certainly aren't any or many that most of us would recognize the names of. Cause all those guys have side hustles, courses, books, crypto, stocks and the list is endless. Then there are the criminals that launder money. I'm sure there's some miserable players grinding a miserable living at 1/2, 2/5 and 5/10.

A "poker pro" by my definition makes all his money ONLY from poker. NOTHING else.

Are you saying that an electrician can't be a professional electrician if he has shares or rents out a house, and doesn't make ALL their money solely from being an electrician?

I reckon there are plenty of pro poker players, and yes I'm sure many have other things they do, but if those are massively poker related, then that still making money from poker! Clearly!

Crypto, stocks etc are just investments and many people have them, and are still considered professionals at what they do, or work full time in that job!!

I think that tournaments are easier to be profitable than cash games.

This is based only in my own opinion and experiences, but it seems to be logical that cash games are easier targets for botrings and cheaters in general.
Of course tournaments are a much slower profit, but maybe that's is what makes them still possible.

You should start with freerolls and build your bankroll. I am sure you will learn more if you loose your own money but there is also a risk of getting addicted if you spend too much enthusiasm. Thats what i can give you as an advice. My poker increased extremely after i started listening to others and reading books about poker. Before that i just kept playing and won sometimes. Probably thats the only good think about it, i earned experience during these years.

Get a regular job in whatever country you're in so you can build a bankroll and you can meet your regular expenses and you have a skill to fall back on if you go busto or have a rough patch of luck or some unexpected expense.

Or if you're too young then focus on either going to school or getting into a trade that can give you something to fall back on.

Then you don't have pressure to win and you can spend time grinding or learning how to play.

And you have skills that can help you in life whether its customer service or whatever trade or job youre able to get into.

Then play after work or whenever you have time while learning the game.

And "professionals" usually specialize in something not cash or tourns and then they specialize in even more things like HU cash or short handed omaha tourns or SNGs or whatever people have an interest in.

Best thing I can tell you is to don't run away from something to start trying to learn poker.
