Well; many players dream is to play at the WSOP. So why don't Stars give them a payout structure similar to the WSOP?

Even if a player wins only $0.11; he could think that one day, when he plays at the WSOP that will be $11,000.

And you are right; I am upset, but not at you.

I'm upset that Stars removed the Privilege Freerolls and replaced it with complete trash.

Those hourly flip games really are a joke. If you played every single one of them (24 a day) for a whole month you should get about 2 tickets based on 64 tickets per game and 20000+ entrants, a whole $1 worth of tickets.

The new trend at PokerStars is to put a LOT of players in a low prize tourney and pay very few spots. Then let the fools battle until some luckbox gets a little piece of meat.

Stars must be ROFL to see as many players registering to their crappy tournaments.

Let me tell you about the "crazy" Zoom freeroll.

First - we have the crazy payout structure 13 to 319 = 1$. (Field is 6000 players)

Second - the crazy frormat: It starts as a zoom tourney but when it reaches about 700 players it reverts to a regular tourney.
So we are playing the fastest poker game and then it comes to a stand still. Because of the payout structure everybody plays like it is a satellite; so they use all their time and it is the slowest form of poker.

Third - it gets worse; when the bubble breaks everybody goes allin like crazy since they have little hope of reaching the 13th spot.

And PokerStars thinks I'm going to deposit to get tickets for this kind of insanity?

I don't know what the hell they are thinking.
I wouldn't play these even if they gave me free tickets.
And their all in free rolls with 64 50 cent spin and go tickets for 10,000 are not even worth logging into their site for.

In French we have an expression for that:

"Le jeu n'en vaut pas la chandelle"

Is this promotion attracting any new blood at all? I've all but quit pokerstars after over 10 years playing there, so has my brother and a couple other people I know.
I loved the 100k VIP, but it's not like I was only playing freerolls, I played enough to maintain chromestar status, my brother occasionally hit silverstar.
The only plans I have to play there now is my last chromestar tourney on Saturday and my last 3 weekly round 2 tickets.
Even if they bring back the 100k I might not return, I've already grown rather fond of 888 in the few weeks since I've started playing there.

Exactly. The payout structure of those tourneys is so screwed.

I don't play them anymore.

Who do you think will play in those freerolls?

1) Not the hi stake players
2) Not the reg grinders
3) Not the play money; freeroll only people (you need to do missions or deposit to get more then 2 tickets per month)
4) The recreational player? He will soon find that they are a waste of time.

But I guess there will be 9K+ Players in them all year long. So who are those people?
I've never played one of these, but plan to in the near future. $0.00 buy-in to possibly win $50.00 seems like a good ROI to me. I always play for first place, so I love top-heavy payout structures. The $1 prizes are what I call bad-luck incentives. If you play well, but lose anyway to just plain bad luck or a bad beat, at least you get a little something for your time.

I expect that the 20K entries will whittle down to a more reasonable number in the first few minutes, as with most freerolls. After that, it should start to test your poker playing ability a bit more. The HU variant looks to be the best option for me, but i'll try the other two non-shootout variants as well.

Who plays? I would think that the recreational player and the little guy looking to break in to the world of real money play are at the top of the list. And what's wrong with that? I applaud PS for providing options where those players have the opportunity to pick up a little cash. Two chances per month keeps it real - less incentive to treat it like a lottery. Certainly not too many of the regular cash/low+ buy-in players will be interested, but they rarely play freerolls of any type anyway.

It would be better if PS scrapped these games and used the $60k to bring back the 100k VIP freerolls. Either keep the old structure and drop the prize pool to $500 from 1k 4 times a day or keep it at 1k 2 times a day.
Anything has to be better than the current system which virtually nobody likes. As it stands PS is just throwing 60k a month away, these tourneys don't entice anyone to play and they aren't good advertising.

OK, I mis-spoke about he HU variant. I'd forgotten how soooo sloooow these can be. After 2 1/2 hours of tourney time and only about 9 minutes of actual play time, I busted out just before the money. I'm 100% positive my instant of inattention was caused by pure boredom. That's not to say that this particular type of freeroll is inherently bad. Just that HU tourneys are a very special kind of beast that are perhaps best suited to people who either multi-table a hundred of them at a time, or who like to jump in and out of the action for a couple of minutes every half hour or so.

Here's a tip - if you do decide to play (HU), register well in advance. Otherwise you will sit and wait for half an hour after the tourney has started before you get to play a single hand.
