Why do people like 888?

888 is a good site for MTTs. The rake is the same as everywhere else, field are relatively soft, and there are often overlays especially in satellites. For cash games and SnGs there is not much reason to play on 888 though

SnGs rake is lower @ 888 lowstakes than @ PS but blinds are faster.
same goes for MTT's blinds are faster 8min vs 10min.

I play 888poker still works great as at pokerstars except for one drawback, the withdrawal of money is very long, I don't want to wait for this withdrawal from their site, the rest is fine

I think, 50% rakeback is a complete illusion for most players. For me personally regulated sites are not allowed to give me any rake-back at all, because I live in Sweden. And on ACR I am on the lowest reward level, where the rakeback is a low single digit percentage, which of course totally dont matter at all. I have not even earned the first $10 yet. Also in general rakeback is important for cash and SnG players, but its not as important for MTT players, since winning players can easily achieve a dubble digit ROI in MTTs.

So all in all I will maintain, that 888 Poker is a good site for MTTs. I have not played there in 2022, but this is mainly because, I decided to do a challenge on PokerStars, and because I have moved more towards SnGs, where the game selection and action is way better on Stars. But at some point I might start playing MTTs on 888 Poker again. I completely agree, that the cash games on 888 Poker suck though. Very little action, high rake, and you cant even select which tables to play.

Hey you need to email them and ask to be apart of the 27% flat rake back program, it's not listed. It defaults you too the elite rewards which is only really good if your a mid/high stakes grinder.

Also I think you are under valuing how much rake back can add up to. Once you hit your first $10 for example, you could of got $27 back with the 27%.

If you are close to getting that $10 I would wait before switching over though to the better rake back structure.

To get the 50%(ish) on that site you are going to need to get 1700 points for the weekly leaderboard on the beast which gives you $50. Between my rake every day and that leaderboard I was getting close to half my rake back according to my tracker. Unfortunately if you are not a volume player the 27% is going to be it.

Actually I like the simple software, tables load fast on my old PC -, good selection of tournaments, but as already mentioned. their promotion are not really that great except for the many freerolls.

However if you want to grind a few MTTs up to $10 , it's easy to cash and run deep compared to Pokerstars since the player pool is smaller.
Couple of days ago I played a $5 MTT with only 167 players in it and ended up at the final table, cashed $81 for 4th. Pokerstars give me too many mini cashes when you have to compete against so many players.

888 are popular among freerollers and the like, only in MTTs. This is the only poker room where there are permanent freerolls with good prizes, before there were even more freerolls, and most importantly, having 0 on your account can really win money without investing your own. I think this is the main reason for their popularity, also there is no such traffic in MTTs as on PokerStars and GGpoker, for me it’s a good network of satellites where you can really win a good MTT. Why many complain about the software is not clear to me, maybe it's a matter of habit, I'm not comfortable at PokerStars.
I agree that it is useless to play cash there, since there is almost no rake, almost no, but I don’t play cash games.

I rarely play on 88 but I liked the freerols there and that there aren't quite as many people in the freerols compared to, for example, PokerStars

888 is great to build a roll from scratch and because of the soft playing field that includes many bad players from the united kingdom (and by bad i mean really bad, probably sportbettors or casino players that try out poker).

However if you are a real grinder and you like to play higher often, its probably not the best option. Their software is just not made to play very long sessions, its hurting my eyes after a few hours and that constant beep beep when its your turn is very annoying. I also dont like that i can not turn off avatars on the mobile App and i have to listen to that stupid chip shuffeling and dealing sound. Support there is on a very low level and you have to explain everything over and over.

Still i kind of like to play there. I would rate them 3.5/5.

The software I find ok, the freerolls I dont usually play as they are super hyper and I dont enjoy that format

That is pretty much only for exactly $3 games and $5 regular speed games. For all other limits and especially the higher ones PokerStars have lower rake than 888. PokerStars also have a format like Fifty/50, where the rake is significantly lower at all limits.

Both sites have a variety of different blind structures. 888 Poker has a format called "Voyage", which is slower than pretty much anything on PokerStars apart maybe from the "Daily Marathon".

Some good micro tournaments, freerolls and a simple interface with no garbage for millenials. the week part is cash games ( i don't play that anyway) because they don't have a big traffic.
