I understand the question. I've only played a couple of CC freerolls so far as I'm relatively new to the site. I find the style of play is VERY different with CC players than with the regs I meet on PokerStars.
When it comes to making money at poker, you need to find the game you can beat. You become familiar with the style played in a particular room or tourney type, length, stakes, etc.
So, with this, I get where the questioner is coming from. If it doesn't help you enhance your particular strategy and tactics for your bread and butter games, then its value is indeed questionable.
However, I like to review hands afterwards and try to find out where I might have lost less or won more. It takes all sorts to find strats which work in specific situations.
That said, it is hard to use specific strategies in freerolls and poker with novice players. So I guess, fundamentally, CC freerolls should help you to exercise your skills in adapting to new situations, acquiring intel on opponents (which a cynic might say is the actual purpose of CC), etc.
Winning poker is about finding an edge and exploiting that edge to maximum efficiency. Your edge will need to change with changing game environments. Volume is your friend in the end and will tell you if your strats are worthy.
