lol. Is it possible to profit from freerolls??? Ummm...it's impossible to NOT profit from freerolls. That's what a freeroll is - free money available for no buy-in.

Are you going to become rich from freerolls? No. Never. But it is possible to build up a few 100 Dollars playing freerolls and low stakes buy-ins. If you're even a reasonable player in $1-$2 tournament, you can make a decent side income.

Obviously some people make profits from freerolls. Just don't get the idea that one of these people could be you!

They have the same probability of getting two Royal Flush rolls one after the other lol.
but it will never be profitable.

I don't think you can make big profits playing for free, but you can build up a good balance over time. I think you could easily earn $200 a month just by playing for free. But you have to invest time and save everything you earn.

High profits? No. But the Cardschat freerolls are definitely winnable, and over the long term you can build up a nice, but small bankroll.

Freerolls aren’t designed for quick or high profits, and expecting big short‑term winnings usually leads to frustration.
The real value of freerolls lies in slowly building a small but stable bankroll without risking your own money.
Because the fields are huge and the payouts tiny, patience and consistent play matter far more than chasing big scores. Over time, disciplined decision‑making and steady participation can turn freerolls into a foundation for moving up to low‑stakes games.
They’re essentially a long‑term investment in your poker development rather than a fast path to profit.

The answer to almost everything in poker is, it depends. But in your case, we have an affirmative answer.

It's impossible to lose money in freerolls (except when the re-entry fee is charged)... So, in theory, you can only be EV+ by playing freerolls! Haha

I answered somewhat jokingly, but with a grain of truth! Haha

In general, yes!

You need to dedicate yourself, at least a little, to understanding the game. Set your goals.

Ideally, you should build a decent bankroll from freerolls so that you can then think about being profitable.

Cardschat alone offers almost 100 freerolls per month, and of course, depending on how much extra income you need, you can withdraw something just from those (obviously by dedicating yourself). Besides the thousands of others that exist out there, not with the same structure and probably with gigantic fields, but they can still help increase your bankroll. It will also depend on your availability for the game.

There are several factors, but since it's impossible to be completely profitable playing frerolls, then we're all profitable! lol

The secret trick is hidden in my username! 😝
So, from November 27, 2025, to today, you have earned $44.45 with your “username.” That's an average of $22 per month, which is less than a dollar per day. Do you consider that a high income?
I think when the player “TTKSHE2” asked this question, he had completely different figures in mind :)

Rome was not built in a single day as they all say!

I think I actually misread the question as high profits *from* freerolls instead of high profits *in* freerolls!

Anyway, I might sound like a fool to you but I’m still looking at the bigger picture of using this free money to enter paid tournaments and gradually move higher with a disciplined bankroll management!

Secondly I’m a passionate and not a professional poker player who considers poker as it’s bread and butter!
But it’s not a bad thing if it really becomes your second source of income at any point in life right? 😊

And last but not the least, if on paper I can achieve these many positive results (though less lucrative in terms of money involved) then surely getting IN THE MONEY in paid tournaments is not a distant dream!

I’m sure the day I crack that formula, it’s going to be a love affair with your blessings! 🙏🏼😊♥️

It could be. It is definitely possible! You would have to build a bankroll and from there go up to the micro level and grow from there. Obviously the higher level will cost more but the prize money will also be better. Or you could grind away at cash games but you will need a good bankroll to start. Of course time and patience will be needed to achieve any success but IMO it is possible!

Good luck and you see some good results be sure to let us know!🤗🫣

You can get money from freerolls (as I and other CC members did before), but this will be very slow...

Freeroll players do not pay to get a ticket for it, so you will play for a tiny prize pool (and this will not grow as players get in the tournament, as no one put more money inside the prize pool) with a lot of villains to beat. But you may see some really good opportunities in some specific events, where you may play a freeroll in order to get interesting prizes like more cash than the usual or a ticket to an important tournament.

I think freerolls are a great way to start building your bankroll; they also serve as a poker experience, and over time you'll see that it's not difficult to make money in freerolls.

You spend a lot of time, but it's not known if you're going to win.) But when you're playing against strong opponents, you have the opportunity to learn and train.)

I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s basically impossible.

Is it hard to make high profits from freerolls? Absolutely. The fields are huge, structures are often turbo, and the payouts are very top heavy. But “never profitable” isn’t accurate.

I actually have a friend who literally built his bankroll only through freerolls and small-ticket satellites, and he still grinds that ecosystem consistently. He treats them seriously, selects the best structures, avoids pure lottery formats, and is extremely disciplined with bankroll management. Over time, small scores compound.

Freerolls aren’t about hitting back to back royal flushes. They’re about volume, patience, and understanding that the edge comes from other players not taking them seriously.

Will most people make a living from freerolls? No.
Is it possible to turn them into real money with the right approach? Definitely.

I think it really depends on your perspective and on which freerolls you are playing. For example, in very large freerolls with thousands of players where only a few get paid very small amounts, like some on GGPoker, it can feel almost impossible to make consistent profits. They are very hard to win, but not impossible. From a logical point of view, freerolls are always profitable in one way or another, because you are risking nothing and still have a chance to win something meaningful, even $20 or more. My advice is to try different poker rooms and see how freerolls work on each site. Some rooms have softer fields and better structures. For example, 888poker offers many freerolls, so it can be a good place to test. In the end, you lose nothing by playing freerolls, and they can help you build a small bankroll with zero risk.

It depends on what you mean by earning. If $50 a month isn't money for you, then don't waste your time on freerolls, spend your money on your bankroll. I don't understand how freerolls can be unprofitable if it's pure profit, since you don't spend anything there.

It's not easy, but it's not impossible either. Patience plays a big role, as does knowing how to choose the right freerolls. And there's something else you should keep in mind: from time to time you'll get freerolls with really good prizes. If you do things right, you can achieve great results, so keep your spirits up, you can do it!

The goal is not to have high profits from the freerolls, but to get enough so that you can enter spaces where you can win big. There are free rolls where you can win quite expensive tickets to tournaments with significant prizes, as an example.

A lot of players I know of on this site have made thousands of dollars over the years from freerolls. I haven't exactly done bad myself either. The answer is yes you can make a good profit from freerolls, in some countries this money goes further than others naturally.

IMO it's best to play free rolls that are satellites to bigger tourneys. I think you will struggle to make high profits just on free rolls. The fields are massive and the payouts aren't that high
