I used to play NL10, but I realized it was too exciting (I can't afford a big enough bankroll for that) So I switched to NL2 and now I almost don't worry and show my best results.

Nice results, what stakes are you playing now? Only scanned through the thread but looks like you must be putting in some decent volume, are you multitabling many tables?

Thanks so much to the three posters above. I only just started playing again as I left Costa Rica in December 2021 to go back to the Uk. I got a “proper job” in recruitment but working for “the man” isn’t for me hahaha.

I’m back in Central America. This time not only with my wife, but also our 1 year old son.

Im grinding up from 2nl again, I made a deposit of just $30.

I actually do use a 100 buy in strategy once I get to 10nl and above. 2nl and 5nl are low(ish) variance for me.

My winrate at 25nl was not a large enough sample to bother mentioning but I think I was positive over a few thousand hands. I had to quit and go back to UK for birth of my son, so I cashed out the roll.

Im not sure if I’ll play zoom or regular tables this time.

Good luck with the poker and central Americawith a 1 year old!

If you were playing 25NL before it might not be necessary to drop all the way down to 2NL unless the $30 you deposited is all you can afford to lose

A 2nl move to 5nl and having in mind your up climbing diagram is a decent step in front, in your poker situation.

Hello friend, muchos gracias. I just started playing again from the bottom just 1 week ago, but I've been very sick in bed with flu for almost a week so i dont have any graph to post. I think I will play 2nl and then 5nl zoom before switching to 10nl regular tables.

Thank you kindly good sir. It certainly has its challenges. I have a healthy savings account based in England so I don't actually need to grind up from 2nl, but I find that when I take a break for a couple of years it always helps to just start from the bottom again. I also enjoy starting from scratch. I should be at 10nl with 100 buyins within 3 months. And then perhaps another 3 months to 25nl? lets see.

Thank you. The problem is, I don't know. I have plugged the numbers and a 5bb zoom winrate at 10nl and 150k hands a month would be more than a 12bb win rate at 40k hands a month on regular tables. But zoom comes with higher variance. Im undecided.

Many thanks.

PS

I will upload a graph once I have climbed to 5nl. No one cares/ wants to see weekly 2nl graph updates haha.

Reg tables are said to be softer than zoom.

Yes, it's pretty fast...

Hello everyone. How are we all doing. I forgot about this thread and just found it again. I can't believe it has been 11 years since I first posted in here. I was reading Linus's challenge thread over on 2+2 the other day and laughed thinking how his really is 1 in a million and mine never got beyond 25nl.

I lived in Central America twice, and had to come back again due to medical issues in the family.

I played for a year in 2024 on Unibet and made some money. Haven't really had too much time to play but still have such a passion for poker. Currently living in UK and want to start playing again in 2026. Maybe this time I can actually keep the thread going past micro stakes. But at the moment I can't play full time and also I'm on unibet which has no hand histories at all so can't even download. I have to track winnings in a spreadsheet on my desktop. The rake has gone up on PokerStars in 2024 I saw, which is a shame but table cap is now 8 I believe. I wonder where my poker journey will go from here. I still have dreams of playing semi full time and would be amazing if since 2009 when I started playing that I finally reached mid stakes after 15 years of on and off playing. I think, looking back, my main hurdle has been stability in my life which has meant I have had to cash out my bankroll every time I reach the top of the micro stakes. In 2024 I learnt my lesson and although I had to stop playing on Unibet because of life, I kept my bankroll of about £550 on there so that when I start playing again I don't have to grind from the bottom.

I will probably start playing on PokerStars in a few months time where I can use my HUD and PokerTracker again. And then I will start uploading. My current roll is £550 on unibet and I will go from there.

Hope all are well

No, I haven't ever played at those limits. Highest I've played is 25nl. But I do want to play those limits some day. Is it a tough environment on unibet? Are there a lot of recreational players at 50 and 100nl?

Still quite a few fish especially at 50nl, and these wierd players you cant quite tell if they are bad regs or fish. Its not overly tough compared to other sites, but i prefer to use a hud, and rakeback is bad at Unibet so my volume there is fairly low... also sometimes not too many tables running

Yeah interesting, thank you. Do you spend much time in "the lab"? I'm pondering if it's time now for me to take the plunge and put in solver study. But honestly, I don't want to complicate things while at the micros because honestly, GTO often does more harm than good at these stakes especially if you don't know WHY the solver does something and how to deviate for maximum exploitation. Been playing on GTO Wizard free version but reckon the best value is probably GTOPlus for me.

Do you play on Stars?

Yeah i study a bit with gto+ and gtw (free version), i should probably do more but like moat people.prefer playing. Its definitely worth studying at least a little bit regardless of stake, just dont blindly copy solver outputs. And 25nl is already out of micros and where things get more serious.
Yeah PS is my main site.

Yeah I mean it's popular for sure and I can see why but it looks so suspect.

For those that are interested in my poker, these are my results on Unibet poker playing 4nl. They don't allow any hand histories at all so this is just an average graph. I do an excel at the end of the session just saying the total cumulative amount won, and also the number of hands played. So it's roughly accurate down to each session rather than each hand.

My last 40k hands have been a bit more break even. Took 40k to go from 515 Euros to 602 Euros. Variance was rough but moving upwards again.

Especially since this thread was started more than a decade ago, and a few years ago OP posted, that he now "completed the challenge twice". If we have already established a winning track record, we really dont want to constantly move back down to stakes, we are "overqualified" for. Maybe OP dont feel comfortable trying to move up to 50NL or 100NL. But then at least stay at 10 NL and 25NL, if he already has a winning track record there.

Obviously real life events can cause us to withdraw money from our poker bankroll, and then we might be forced to move down. This is something, I have done as well. But its really not ideal, and this time I have kind of promised myself, I will never again draw down my bankroll so much, that I can not continue playing at least up to $16.5 MTTs and $25 SnGs. And I have also set filters, so I no longer see anything below $5 MTTs or SnGs. I have spend more than enough time playing microstakes games, and I dont want to go back to those again, even though they are usually very soft.
