It's the swings and tilt which comes in cash for me. I remember like; not even a year ago when I was playing some cap 50nl heads up, I ended up sitting someone in a 50nl 100bb game and within like 2 hours; I'd lost $400. I know 25nl/50nl and especially heads up is totally different but I felt awful afterwards and didn't want to play poker lol. It started out very well; like up +3buy-ins, lost 2 or something to coolers/suckouts can't remember and I literally just went nuts and spewed of a ton more!

If I felt disciplined where I could say "Ok; I will play exactly only 10buy-ins - if I lose, it's fine. I'm breakeven on the month with my 10nl winnings, I'll re grind some 10nl" however, I don't feel I am disciplined enough for that.

Seriously though - I am considering it. Playing hackmeplz I think tonight or tomorrow, depending on how that goes will determine how I feel about shot taking 25nl :p If I lose my full $200 to him (high chance) then I dunno; I might just grind out another 10buy-ins at 10nl first ;)

This is the main problem with cash for me; is tilt and swings it really demotivates me I question my game more so. In SnG's I know I'm profitable; so it doesn't bother me but at cash I'm not 100% sure if I am (at 25nl anyway) so thats the things that put me of moving up.

You've played 5k hands at 25nl, the question is do you feel somewhat comfortable there? If you do then give it a real go. The only thing to take into account is how comfortable you are, with both the skill level and RoR/swings. It's all individual, the rules used are just a guide for teaching people just how big swings can be. You won't see a pro playing with less than 50BI and probably closer to 100BI, but 20BI is kind of a guide for people who don't really understand variance yet.

I do think 200BI at 10nl is a little ridiculous though :) you want to get yourself into the real money as quickly as possible. That's what it's all about.

It is ridiculous yeah but, I have to factor in that the bankroll I have isn't won from cash games, it's all from my MTT/SNG's winnings. Had I not withdrawn any winnings; I'd be rolled for much higher but I'd probably still be playing 10nl. I sometimes feel people jump from one varient to another at a higher limit because they are rolled for it but don't have the experience for them. I'm not saying it's a bad thing either but for me I feel I have to earn my way there if that makes sense. Last thing I want to do, is blow like a 1/4 of my roll playing 25nl and feeling annoyed with myself. :[

I feel 25nl obviously has some better players as that's normal, who have likely grinded up so will have more experience than me. I feel I might end up donating unnecessarily. From my experience in the games; I feel comfortable in the sense of playing vs even the better players but it's mainly the swings. Like swinging $25 back and forth, I'm just not that used to it in cash games. I will likely give it a go though, 10nl is boring because it just doesn't feel enough..16nl is a stupid limit and 25nl just seems a bit to much for my limited experience.

I also feel more prone to tilting much more than in SnGs & have done it before a few times but I'm still unsure as to why so that's one of the main reasons I'm a bit reluctant at the moment.

I can understand and kinda agree with you Ram, but a strict 4BI shot wouldn't hurt you too much right? But, do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and in your zone or whatever :)

Yeah 4 buy-ins isn't much of a hit on my bankroll. Maybe things will be different this time around, so I'm going to try being strict. Me being strict previously has never gone well though lol.

Maybe this time will be different! :)

I don't know how to adjust for deeper games cause I feel like the variance or at least swings ate way higher, and its tough to be too lax with t given it can limit your ability to fill up on tables

I think your main problem, and one we all struggle with, is thinking of it as money. We all do it but it's probably the best skill we can learn. It's a tool, chips, to win more chips. I know I struggle with it sometimes when it's a big pot haha.

$2000 are 80bi´s for 25nl Ram, and that is without moving down, even taking a 10bi shot will mean $250 which let you still with $1750, 175bi´s for 10nl.

But i totally understand you because i was a BR nit too not much ago. i was using the ev calculator and expecting to be 0.1% at least of ROR to consider moving up or at least 40-50 bi´s which pretty much keep me so much time on 2/5nl. considering that and the fact that was cashing out some times (i should be on $500 now if take cashouts for this year). Add to that the constant change of game because get borred and the stupid thinking need to be xx amount of WR to move up, i know you strugle with keeping on same game for long too, so is going to be hard to keep there if you stay on same level for ages.

Now i decide to go with Agresive BR, so as soon have 20bi´s for the current level take shots on the next one mixing stakes. that´s why the shot to 25nl with 300, because if lose still $225 left and i´m fine with 22bi´s for 10nl because i don´t care to mix with 5nl if necesary.

But i never play 25nl before, not even in past years, last time i try cash couple years back (before i give up for a year) just get to 10nl, ended BE for 10k hands and then just quit. But i think i´m a better player now, still suck in general but at least i understand now that i could be BE a lot more than 10k hands and just be variance.

I think both, you and duggs are better players than me tbh, at least you guys think on a bigger level than me when read your HH´s, so probably you guys will be fine on 25nl.

Just set a point when to move down.

I can relate to this a lot.

But for me is worst because live on a 3rd world cowntry, so every $dollar means 12x times more of my coin, so for me $300 is actually like playing with a $3,600 roll., so to be rolled for 25nl with 40bi ($1k) means i will be playing with $12,000 of my coin and is a god damn big money.

But 25nl is my last level and kind of motivates me to keep going and try now, but still every pot looks way bigger on 25nl, and considering was playing 5nl at the start of the month is 5 times more money there.

2nd hand make it smaller on the flop - if you're only shoving for 1/3 pot on the turn I think your sizing can be a little more uniform. Bet 4 and then 8 instead of 6 and 6 imo. You'll get more calls on the flop I think, without folding out more hands on the turn.

Decent, bankroll swung up a good junk at 10nl. I recently threw in some 1-tabling of 25nl, which has been so-so runbad wise, but play seems atrocious so I'm hoping to continue playing my BR aggressively. I did well in a tournament there today, placing 3rd for $100, which was a nice offset since I lost a bi at 25nl today.

pres kinda meh. almost folding the turn but with his sizing i think its like overpairs and sets here specifically.

Considering that, do we b/f river?

I like a b/f on the riv. I'm never ever folding turn when we rep so many FD's and PP's that make 2nd pair.

Edit: Shameless plug for my blog, Predictably Busto. Check it out if you haven't yet guys, lots of poker stuff in there, as well as some personal stuff about me that you won't find elsewhere. I pour my heart and soul into it, and I just updated it, so go check it out!!

Move up Ram imo. I have $1k BR and play 25nl. You will most likely be a winner in it, just table select good.

H1: WP
H2: Easy flop fold, rest is fine.
H3: Raise more pre-flop, UTG +1 is likely a massive fish and it's 2nl + you are OOP, make it ~18 BB's. B/F flop.
H4: Raise pre-flop. UTG is short-stacked fish.

just doing a 15k stat review. I was actually looking for more spots to call 3bets but my f3bet is still like 80%...way too high for 25nl eh? should try to get it down to 70%?

cbet is 66% and tcbet is 45%. is that okay you think or a little too wide?

also....tooo thin?
