Polished Poker Vol. I Study Group

I stopped after this hand. A few rounds earlier I had used the c/call, lead the turn on this guy and it had worked quite well so with the hand I had and the flop texture the only way I felt I had a chance to win the pot was to do the same again. Turn card was a little too nice I guess.

I quit a couple hands after this one, I wasn't getting anywhere and felt like I was chasing. Would this be considered a cooler? Now that I see this again the way this hand went I don't know if I should have played through.

AK. After he calls your flop raise you should be giving him credit for something better than your ace high. Fold to his turn lead even fish can have a hand! Get your money in against this one with tpgk and he should be easy meat.
22 fold on the flop, he is a tight player 13/12 you set mined and missed, the flop hits his range he isnt going away often enough here. You can try to push him off flops like k83 Q95 J72 but not AQx.

Thanks Fig. I was up half the night thinking about how poorly I played those hands. I woke up at 3:30 chiding myself. Good advice on both hands thanks again and I've got notes all over the fish for the next time. I couldn't believe he still stayed in the hand with only a pair of 8's.... Then again, I didn't do any better...

Its perfectly ok to set mine against this player he is tight and may pay you off if he hits a good hand. But once you miss that particular flop id be giving up to his cbet.

Hi guys! I'm having a little trouble with the configuration of bovada hand catcher and PT4. It's not saving my hand histories. I followed the instructions on the tutorial. I have all my saved hands re-directed here: Configuration---> Site and Import options ---> pokerstars---> C:\Program Files (x86)\Ace Poker Solutions\Bovada Card Catcher\Handhistories. Are you guys playing on regular tables on iPoker? I play speed and all the guys there are pretty much nits and regulars. Maybe 1 one in 70 players has an vpip over 50

yes ofc they wont have high vpip... how hard is to quick fold till you get nice hand.... on reg tables on other hand ppl will call with weaker hands and hope to hit flop... also hm2/pt only counts hand you saw them playing... so that stats are kinda tricky for speed poker....
basicly if you sit on table every hand till end you will have better stats on vilians

Did I do the right move here by folding at the end? He called my re-raise twice, and I bet very large every single time. Not much info..

Looks like a good fold, the stat that would help would be post flop aggression, if that is low its a clear fold. His pfr is low so he doesnt seem to be too agg and for someone like that to shove the river smacks of the nuts, KT spades or similar fits the small donk lead hoping to draw cheaply.
Personally I would have just called it down from the turn rather than reraised a 2nd time.

Ok, this one seemed pretty basic.. but when i 4-bet him and he flat called does it narrow his range down to a calling range like KJ KQ AQ AJ, or how do I know he's not on some low pocket pair, which I definitely would have lost too. Obvious fish though.

I'm not too sure if I like the second barrel. I think our fold equity is low. He isn't folding any of his pocket pairs, and I think that he folds most of his KQ/KJ type hands on the flop. He might have Ax in his range, which we might get value from though. It's a tough spot. If he is a fish, the way you played it might just be the best way to do it.

Agree with the fold on the first one though, pretty much everything got there. I like the turn raise, we're still getting value from a lot of TP, pairs + draws and draws.

I like raising wet flops like this, because we have a wider percieved range, and villan will call lighter and reraise lighter. Also turn cards that complete draws will kill your action, just like it did in your example, so getting the most money in early is a priority here. The way it was played is ok, I probably would have bet half pot on turn, and half pot on river, if he checks to you.

Nah man, you can go in the session review window and play through the whole hands, even though you fast folded.

Ok, so I've played over 3k hands, pretty small sample size. But I looked at my stats and it says I'm losing the majority of my money in the BB. I see myself 3-betting a lot of speculative hands versus people with high VPIP. Should I tighten my range in the BB and stop 3-betting speculative hands like A5o+ or cold call more often? I'm so lost. Overall, i'm up like 4 buy ins at 25nl but I feel like if I plug my big blind losses I'd be up like 10 buy ins atm...

thats a big leak... stop defending bb with crap hands like A5o... it is normal to have biggest - from bb due to folding but you really should tighten up,maybe pocket pairs,Axs,and broadway cards,also when you tighten up and 3bet from bb u will cut loses a bit

When the river is a brick and they bet nearly pot an easy fold with just Kings they prob have min 2 pairs, may have even hit set of 6s on river

Leakbuster recommends playing between 13-30% of hands from the bb. Nearly everyone loses from the bb as you are out of position to all except the sb. 3 betting A5 off is ok as long as the button is opening pretty wide.

I have to agree here you were lucky on this hand that he had nothing at all.
The second barrell against a player with this profile is usually just a good way to spew off your chips. Just wait for a hand and value bet them dont try to bluff a calling station like this player. I have a few nice examples i will post latet when I get home.

Re Sneaky's 99 top set then full house hand. You should have gotten every single chip available in on the river. You are only losing to quad 3 and he is unlikely to have three bet an utg opener with 33.
A flop raise is pretty clear as well. Prefop screams overpair and is he/we ever letting go on the flop, like never. It then becomes much easier to get all the money in as he gets pot committed much quicker.
