The Speed Factor

Do you prefer the fast-paced action of online poker where you get tons of hands per hour, or the relaxed, social atmosphere of live games?

If I had to choose, I’d say online is better for grinding and improving technical skills, while live games are better for enjoying the human side of poker. It really depends on whether you’re chasing volume and efficiency or looking for a more relaxed, social experience.

I enjoy both, but if I had to choose, I prefer online poker because it allows me to play many more hands in a shorter time. The higher volume helps me improve faster, analyze more situations, and make better decisions through experience. That said, I also appreciate live poker because it offers a social atmosphere and the opportunity to observe players and interact at the table. I believe both formats develop different skills, and being comfortable in both makes me a more well-rounded player

Personally, I prefer the faster pace of online poker. I like being able to play many more hands in a shorter period of time, which gives me more decision-making opportunities and allows me to gain experience more quickly over the long term. Online poker is also more convenient for me and easier to fit into my schedule.


That being said, live poker has its own unique appeal. The social interaction, observing opponents in person, and the overall atmosphere create an experience that online poker simply cannot fully replicate. However, the slower pace of live games means you play significantly fewer hands during a session.


Overall, I would choose online poker, especially when my main goals are improving my skills, gaining experience, and achieving consistent long-term results. I see live poker more as an enjoyable social experience and something different from my usual online sessions.

Live poker ring games have many weak players , but the rake will eat at your stack , at least in the casinos where I live . Online rooms don't take such a deep cut , but the players are generally tougher .

I would prefer the live games always over online, but it is just so easy to play online vs live is hard to actually get to play games. bluffing is quite literally 1000% more fun in live poker then online, then the slow speed cooking of the game kinda shines as the opponent squirms & thinks about what to do, while you see their emotions raw.

The problem is that I notice my mindset changing depending on where I'm playing. In person, I play more cautiously and with more focus. Online, I tend to click faster and sometimes bet chips I wouldn't in real life.The live game is so incredibly slow, it's just unbearable once you get used to online.
