In cash games the “level” (the blinds/stakes) is not automatically increased like in tournaments. Promotion to higher stakes is at your own discretion and is based on strict bankroll management, measured in the number of big blinds (BBs) or buy-ins.
Bankroll Management Rules (in Big Blinds)
The common recommendation for bankroll management in no-limit hold'em cash games is 30 to 50 full buy-ins for the desired level. A standard buy-in is usually 100 big blinds.
Here are the guidelines for when you should consider making the switch:
Conservative approach (recommended): Have at least 50 buy-ins for the next limit in your bankroll. If a buy-in is equal to 100 BBs, you will need 5,000 BBs for the higher limit before switching.
Average approach: Many players use a guideline of around 40 buy-ins.
Risk-taking approach: A few very experienced and well-performing players take the plunge with just 20 buy-ins.
For Tournaments youll need 200x of Buy in in Background. Dont play!
