Ok my friend the "King", What about when you have less than 17?
Realistically deciding to hit regardless of your card total(except 21) is based somewhat upon the dealers up card...if dealer has a 3 to 6 then hitting a soft 17 (A 6) would be advisable. with a double bet, in fact even A7 calls for a double bet and a hit against a dealers 2 to 6...

Im really not a big fan of blackjack because it isnt so popular in European casinos for the last 20 years but maybe things are changing.
It is very helpfull to read this basics here and get better in touch with the game but i have to say it is an advantage if you are good at math because
you know when it is time to stand.
You have to know the high risk for example if you stand at 16,17 and another card will be often your bust out but also with 16,17 its a hand which ist not too strong and dealer beats it several times.

You don't really need to be good at math. People have done the job for you and came up with a basic strategy for everyone to use. It comes in a simple chart you're allowed to have in front of you in casinos, just look up "Basic Strategy Chart" online and download it. It's better to memorize it, but you don't have to.

Also, take a look at this free course available here on CC;

Excellent introduction... The only information I had before this was the card values and that we needed to get as close to 21 as possible.

It really seems to be an exciting and challenging game, just like poker, and it requires some practice to maximize your knowledge!
It also seems to have much more fun and favorable odds and gameplay than roulette, for example.

So far, of the casino games presented, this is the one I liked the most. (but I still need to learn the basics of some others)

Congratulations on the content!

It does indeed, along with craps and baccarat, it's the most profitable table game where the house has the least edge.
It's also a lot of fun to play due to its fast pace as opposed to poker for example.

Very easy to learn. The dealer and other players at the table can help too, but it's better to have at least some basic knowledge before getting into its fast, fun but dangerous action.
The "Blackjack Academy" link I posted above, just before your post is very useful and could even get you 15 VIP chips if you complete it.

Based on the name alone, I have no idea what "Crap" is... I'll check the relevant section later.
I remember reading about and even playing baccarat at some point in my life... I'll also visit that section soon.

It's a shame I missed the January promotion because besides practicing, I would have been participating in something.

But I've already started at the blackjack academy... But I'm taking it slowly!
I'm also still trying to assimilate and memorize the tips in the introductory guide.

I am slowly working my way through the video blackjack series. Great info. I am learning about "surrendering", like when you have 15 and the dealer shows a 10.

But the line from the greatest 'Star Trek' movie keeps going through my head. "Never give up. Never surrender."

The most difficult part (of blackjack) is remembering when to hold on 12-14, depending on dealer's card. I refuse to carry a "cheat" card to the table.

Since it's allowed, I don't see why not take advantage of it. Casinos have so much edge, any little thing can help. Once you feel that you don't need it anymore, then let it go.

PS: The "Surrender" option is a very tricky one: https://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/surrender/

Several good theories on Blackjack; however, remembering them all is probably impossible.

Stick to the basics, and I am sure over a period of time you will come out winning, the question is when to stop?

Totally agree on that one. In fact, even sticking to the basics isn't that easy.

blackjack is one of the most interesting online casino games because,

IMO, the world "online" should not be in that phrase. online casinos are very recent compared to live casinos and all casino games.
But you made some very interesting points in your posts, especially these two:

Avoid very high bets at the beginning of the session
Set aside a specific bankroll for the game and never deviate from it

Each one talks about their experience.
In my country, Brazil, only virtual/online casinos are allowed.
Here there are no physical casino establishments; they are prohibited by law.;)

Yeah, I know that Brazil had some very nice casinos before, it's very unfortunate that they close them up.

Some resorts here have casino machines, but very restricted. Online casino games and sports betting were only allowed very recently, I believe from 2016 onwards, if I'm not mistaken.
So, everything is still very new here in that regard. Even the current government intends to prohibit them; it's one of the current president's promises, but it's facing obstacles in the National Congress because the lobby is very strong.

For me, nothing beats the excitement of live dealer games because they feel much closer to a real casino experience.
So I prefer live casino over blackjack.
I’ve been trying to improve my blackjack basic strategy lately, as it has the best odds
Do you believe in betting systems like the Martingale, or do you just rely on pure luck and bankroll management?
I think systems like Martingale fit games like Blackjack much better because of the lower house edge.

No need to carry a 'cheat card'. the choice is simple. Dealer has a card 6 or smaller then you don't hit 12 or bigger...

I'm already starting to like Black Jack more with just these tips on the topic. The truth is that it's a game that involves more strategy than luck!

Hey Tiago,

I don't know if you're aware of this free course. I found it very useful, pleasant and easy to follow. You can also earn 15 chips by completing it.

I think if you play safely, following bankroll management, then it's practically impossible to incur big losses, so it's worth a try, at least for fun :)
