"Is Card Counting a Myth? (6-8 Decks in the Shoe)"

The strategy has changed and the relative edge is much lower but there is still some opportunity for card counting. It's been somewhat simplified to and under and over system. The part that will get you in hot water is when you notify other folks that the shoe is hot and get your buddies in. Otherwise there is little that can be shown to be out of line.

It isn't that hard, as you are keeping a running count of the cards shown, with each having a certain value.
The hard part is watching every move while pretending not to count cards. Once you start raising and lowering your bet
According to the count, they will be watching you like a hawk.
You have to let them see you, not paying attention while raising and lowering your bet.
There are simple counts with just the aces and fives, with +1 for aces and -1 for fives.
The main thing is to practice at home with a few decks, so it comes naturally in the casino.

There are quite a few facts that prove that this is not a myth. There were real players who knew how to do this and systematically made money in this way. But it is also obvious that the casino has its own specialists who track such players and solve this "problem".

People are way more talented the we can ever imagine. Anything is possible

The MIT card counting team made a fortune with accurate tracking , and I am quite sure similar groups operate now . With many decks you dont get a betting edge that often , but when the deck does happen to get 'rich ' it lasts more hands .

Well, even though you asked that question, I'm almost sure you already know the answer. Counting cards is not as difficult as it might sound. Ofc, not anyone can do it, but it's very doable if you learn and especially practice a lot before you hit the casino.

I watch Steve Bridges alot and he would definitely have been my suggestion of being able to count cards effectively in modern times.

Once you get really good ,the hard part is avoiding attention from the pit bosses .If you begin doing realy well, and your skill is obvious, you'll almost certainly be asked to leave .
