"Do you believe card counting is actually possible, or is it just a myth? Since they use 6 or 8 decks in a single shoe, it seems almost impossible for a human to keep count."

If it were impossible, we probably wouldn't hear so many stories about players who count cards and win. I don't think all these stories are fiction. Perhaps there are certain nuances that we don't know about and that aren't widely publicized, but I'm inclined to believe that this is a real method that works.

Card counting isn’t a myth - it’s just cardio for the brain.

Sure, with 6–8 decks you’re not exactly Rain Man, but casinos don’t use all those decks because counting ‘doesn’t work.’ They use them because it does.
The real myth is that you can sit there half‑asleep, sipping a free drink, and magically track every card. The people who can do it are basically doing mental CrossFit while pretending to be casual gamblers.

So yeah, it’s possible… just not for anyone who loses their keys twice a week.

Why is it a myth?
No, it's not a myth. What's more, there are definitely players who earn good money from it. If it weren't real, there wouldn't be so much talk about this system. We've already had several similar discussions. You can view and evaluate the participants' comments here:

I think that in modern casinos, given the number of surveillance cameras, security systems and so on, a player who knows how to count cards is unlikely to be allowed to earn money. Card counting is not a myth, it is a mathematically sound gaming strategy, but the casino has the right to ask you to leave if they suspect that you know how to do it. As for online games, of course, no counting will help you :)

Card counting is possible, but often the casinos will notice and cut the deck shallower(thin for them to win), or wont allow you to adjust your bet sizing.

Counting 6 decks is much different than counting a single deck shoe. It takes much longer to build a "significant" count. It might only take 3 to 5 minutes in a single deck, but it could easily take 45 minutes with 6 decks.

Another thing to consider is when they cut the cards, there are usually way more cards remaining that will go unplayed in a 6 deck shoe. A 1 deck shoe might have a quarter of a deck remaining, but a 6 deck shoe usually has 1 to 1.5 decks remaining.

The best part is if you are physically able to count a 6 deck shoe and the casino doesnt care that you are adjusting your bet sizing and you are successful- the casino will prob hit you with an advantaged player label. Then you either have to make youtube videos about how casinos cheat you, or wear disguises and travel from tribal casino to tribal casino to play BJ.

Ok, with that are you saying. It is not a myth, and it's obvious that there is a method to count. whatever it is almost imposible for a human to count correctly 6 to 8 decks. That's what you saying?

It's not a myth, but I think it's rare. And I think it's much harder to do now than it used to be. I think it's not so difficult to count cards as it is to find a place where you can do it all the time :)

110% it's possible and even pretty easy.....
The Hi-Lo system assigns a value to each card: +1 for low cards: 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. 0 for neutral cards: 7, 8, and 9. -1 for high cards: 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. You only have to remember one number the current running count which starts at zero. Then either add or subtract by one for each card as it's dealt. A count in the pluses like +7 favors the player meaning more high cards are left in the deck somewhere....

^This is the old school method not sure if there is a new school method haven't kept up with blackjack strategy.

Just keep the running counting in you head(don't move your lips or face when doing so) with enough practice a child could easily learn it. The problem comes in only in like card clumping happens and all the high cards(which are better for the player) end up behind the cut card and will never come into play. At my local casino they allow a play to cut the deck BUT the player has to cut what at least looks like 2 decks.

Cheers!!!

Card counting is bona fide. Blackjack is one of the few games in which the odds sometimes favour the player, in particular when the deck is rich in 10s because the dealer must draw to 16. Books have been written about this. The casinos got round this by loading the shoe with several decks so now it doesn't work.

I think it's possible but you have to be very aware that the casino does not find out about it otherwise they will probably cut the deck

Card counting is possible, but the number of decks used makes it difficult to keep track.

Card counting has been proved in movies and YouTube documentaries, backed by math and probabilities. It's a myth for those who don't want to believe, I guess. 🤞😀

That's exactly what I was reading. The evidence says. That it is imposible for a human continuing counting cards. Since there are several decks on a shoe.
