Been many a year since I've since my last trip to Vegas, but I have 2 brothers who each make 2 or 3 trips per year, mostly for work related trade shows & they assure me Batistas Hole in the Wall is still up & running. We were all staying at Harrahs last time I was there & I remember we walked from the hotel to the restaurant without any trouble. My oldest daughter & son-in-law were out there last May for a show & ate there. Said the food was still excellent & don't remember anything about outrageous prices. It's serves Italian food by the way.

I spent only 24 hours in Las Vegas, I was on a layover from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles, I only visited one Flamingo Casino, what I liked most was a breakfast that I ended up attending, I ate more than I should have, so I didn't have to eat all day until I got back to the airport, in addition to the disappointment of losing what I had won at roulette

I stayed there two years ago and their nature preserve was very relaxing and peaceful. It is a winding path through trees and bushes with a stream that runs through it that has large turtles, fish, wood ducks like in the picture below, blue winged teal, some other types of ducks, and those big pink birds whatever they are. It is a nice break from the glitz and lights. :)

I just watched a video and the young woman who was narrating it mentioned the National Atomic Testing Museum, and it looks really cool. In years gone by people in Vegas could see the mushroom clouds seventy some miles away. I lived more than half of my life with the Cold War and the Soviet nuclear arsenal hanging over my head. So I'm going to put it on my list for this year's trip out there.

I'll have a really early breakfast at Vickie's Diner on East Sahara, play the 9am tourney at the Horseshoe, and then head for the museum. It is about one and a half miles down Flamingo Rd from the Horseshoe. Afterward maybe play some five dollar blackjack at Ellis Island on Kovall, 2/3rds of the way between the Horseshoe and the museum, before heading back to South Point. :)

I’ll let you know on Wednesday because I’m just arriving in town as I type. In my three previous times at the Horseshoe I wasn’t in the money. :(

I like the dingy hotels downtown on Fremont St. They are cheaper and offer better deals and bonusses .

Ah okay no problem let me know whenever it's good for you. Yeah tournament poker can be devastating I know I know. Especially live.

I'm sorry for the delay. The Horseshoe went very well and I finished 2nd behind another woman. :) The Atomic Testing Museum was also well worth the visit by being both educational and nostalgic for me. :)

Tournaments can definitely be devastating, but they get my competitive side in gear. :)

The Golden Nugget downtown on Fremont St is great for real gamblers and poker players . Not such a happening place for tourists and the younger club type crowd .
