My first visit to the casino was interesting—it was for a tournament satellite. The atmosphere was excellent and engaging, though there were unfortunately some downsides.
It was at a casino in Bulgaria where smoking indoors is still allowed, so my clothes and hair ended up smelling of smoke—which wasn't very pleasant.
Another issue is that I have poor eyesight; I can only see the cards clearly when sitting directly opposite the dealer, but that seat wasn't always available when tables were being switched, making it very difficult to play. I asked if I could use my phone as a magnifying device, but was refused; other aids like a magnifying glass aren't allowed either—and would be awkward to use anyway. All in all, the casino doesn't always manage to accommodate the people who bring them business.
And, as usual, luck wasn't on my side: early in the tournament, I hit a straight, but my opponent had a royal flush, so I lost a pretty big pot.
