I registered on PokerStars in 2013, but I often took year-long breaks. And yes, if you count the slot machines that used to be on the streets and I played them as a kid, then it's been more than 20 years.😅

Interesting thread, Lena. It was only when I saw the poll that I thought about it for myself.

I used to go into my local betting shop when I was about 15. Mike the bookie knew me or some of my family, but I was no trouble and did not object. I remember one funny incident, it was my 18th birthday, so I was now legal to gamble. I went into the shop, and there were 4 / 5 regulars in there. I invited them all to go for a beer for an hour, and they agreed. Anyway, I said to Mike if he would like to come. He said he would catch us up in about 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, he walked into the pub, and I bought him a drink, as I did everyone else. He said he would pay for the round, so why not, I thought. He said he would like to wish me a happy birthday and paused mid-sentence, and asked how old I was that day. I said 18 today, his reaction was priceless, he said I had been going in his shop for 3 or so years. The whole group of us collapsed in laughter.

well I used to a lot back in the day. i was bored. but i had a fixed limit. like 200 bucks. if i win, what ever i win, i keep aside, the first time i lose, i take my winnings and leave. if i lost my 200 bucks, im out. worked well, till u start colouring outside of the lines.. 🤕 so i figured there after. the only way to get ahead in life is to work hard for it... so i just play poker now as a way to improve my patience in general in life and to be engaged into something that can kill my idle time.

I don't normally go in a casino to play on the slots, I did go to a casino a long time ago and ended up playing roulette, which I didn't even like, my sis took me for my birthday and she loved roulette, I'd rather watch paint dry 😂

When I went on a cruise for Christmas I went to the casino on the last night to play on the slots, I actually enjoyed it but also glad I only went on the last night because I think I might've got a little bit addicted to it 😲 I was slightly up on the night but it could have been a bit better as I doubled up my money then I accidentally hit the £5 a spin button when I was showing a feature to someone and thought why is it spinning without me touching anything, I lost £10 because of that 😂 my bet was 50p.a spin not £5 😲 bloody sensitive touch screens 😂

I am 73 and started playing poker when I was about 15, so I have been playing for nearly 60 years but I can
promise that playing poker for that long does not automatically make me a good player, in fact it definitely hasn't
made me a good player.
