I have sometimes in a single day put more money in a slot machine than I wanted to THAT DAY - but never more than I had brought to lose for the trip. (since the first time I learned my lesson on that many, many years ago lol)
I like your phrasing "...than I had brought to lose for the trip." - exactly the right expectation(y)

"Life is a game" that you have to learn the rules & face the challenges with a clear mind.
Its a game that if you will never give up then you will never loose.
A very beautiful perspective on life and an interesting line of thought that resonates long after you've finished reading...

(...so don't reveal if it's from the quotes calendar;))

Sometimes in some situation i have risk more, but i know, and my experience tell me, what usually this things have bad end!
What if the probability were evenly distributed—like a coin toss—but the enormous stakes were the real risk?

For example, you could win (or lose) fifteen annual salaries. How would you decide:unsure:?

Once I was very lucky and took more risks than I should have in slot games. Luckily, my winnings were higher than I expected, and I was able to leave that “lucky” day with a profit.
But I never risked that much again, because it seemed random and a test of my self-control. And I stopped gambling, since I was playing on a platform that wasn't regulated in my country. Good luck to you!

You're right, Billi! When gambling means risking money you can't afford to lose, what's the point? Good luck to you, always!

I've never gone completely mad, but I remember chucking a few buy-ins in cash games by barreling it off a few times on pure emotion, no logic. Been a while.

I think the risk you’re willing to take always depends on the situation. For example, in an MTT, you might take bigger risks at the start since you can rebuy and have a chance to double up early. Later, in heads-up play, when you’re already tired and just want the tournament to end, your risk tolerance usually decreases.

Would you bet your life on a 50% chance roulette to become a billionaires?

It's good that you gained this self-awareness after making big profits and not after enormous losses!

Yes, because the risk is always there, and I honestly don't need that adrenaline rush anymore! Good luck to you, Patrice!

To be honest, the biggest all-in in my life isn't about cards or money.
These are solutions.

Moving, changing jobs, confessing your feelings, starting from scratch — that's where the real all-in is.
When you're not betting on chips, you have time, nerves, and a future.

And every time the inside says, “Risik. It's all or nothing.”
Is it scary? Yes.
Adrenaline? Another one.

But over time, I understand that sometimes the biggest loss is not taking risks at all

I agree! Life offers so many opportunities where we have to “take risks” that it seems impossible to escape it. I think the best thing is to have courage and wisdom along the way to deal with life! Good luck!

"No" from me here.
I am a player. I like poker, I like strategy and competition, but I am not a gambler.

Of course, risk is part of poker and I accept it. But when I take it it, is never any kind of "feeling" or "need". It is calculation, analising chances etc. It could be math or exploit, but never just because of emotions. Of course I do mistakes, it is also a part of a game, sometimes I miss some details, I am not in the best form, can be disturbed my emotions related to poker or not related to poker and so on - but it is never any kind of drive or need to risk.

With such attitude I do not accept high risk, I do not play for more I can afford to loose.

Life is a game, and I don’t play just to participate. I choose my moments, I protect my stack, but when the right spot comes, I go all‑in without hesitation. That’s how you win in the long run.
