In a recent thread, @skaterick made a comment about what casinos offer or no longer offer. Comps are indeed limited, fees are increasing, and payment for the simpler things, such as free parking, no longer exist at the Las Vegas Casino Resorts. I'm sure there are many other offerings that Vegas was once known for that no longer exist. Not everyone is on board with buffets, but this headline caught my attention, and I wondered if folks in general would be ok with no buffets at the resorts.

At any rate, here is an article from Casino.org that explains 'why' buffets are disappearing.

Report: All Remaining MGM Resorts Casino Buffets to Close in 2027

Seems like the day of the promo is over.

Its like a Hank song, "The vig is up and the promos are down, and you only get mugged if you go downtown".

Forcing gamblers on a budget to go elsewhere to eat is going to cost them; in my mind, they are pricing themselves out of business.
used to be a good comp. for doing a certain amount of gambling because not many can afford the very high-priced restaurants.
I guess if you are only making a few hundred million on gambling, then you cant afford to lose a couple of million on buffets.

I read as Vegas is on the decline with free offers and promotions like comps etc these days and businesses are trying to target mainly rich gambling tourists.

No more buffet for the likes of Rick, Jay, Chainsaw etc...🙁

Looks like Barry Diller is buying MGM, but I wouldnt expect much to change at the operating level.

I would expect them to go bigger online and with digital products.
