Actually, there is. You said it yourself: " the last position (third base) gives you a small informational advantage."
The only thing I might change there is the word "small". Having the privilege to act last, right before the dealer, is a great advantage after having seen all the cards dealt to the other players, and your action does for sure has an impact on the outcome of the hand. Sometimes you can make everyone lose by hitting when you shouldn't have or the other way around.

It doesn't really matter where you sit at the blackjack table unless you're going to count cards. Many people say third base is the best place, but I recommend it as the worst place for blackjack beginners.

I always sit in the last place to prevent bad players from sitting there. It is the worst when you end up with a novice hitting hands they shouldn't hit and taking the dealer's bust cards. Most good players will leave a table where that is happening.

Interesting I was unaware that the last seat is that crucial when you play blackjack. So yeah better occupy it before some bad player does it.

Blackjack is a very versatile game. But I prefer playing one-on-one. I don't like it when there are other players nearby.

The last position really gives the most up-to-date information before making a decision. I try to occupy the last position.
