I haven't been in 19 years and I'm planning a trip when the weather cools down. I'm opening this thread for general advice or tips for a trip there, I'm sure things have changed a great deal since 2009. Where are the best places to play craps ? ( And I know this is the casino forum, but where are the best poker rooms now ? )

I also plan to go to Las Vegas. I've never been there, but I plan to go. If it weren't for the war, I would definitely be there by now.

I've never been there, so I can't give you any advice, but I envy you.

I've never been in Las Vegas, but I'm definitely going to go there someday to experience that unforgettable atmosphere of gambling. The only thing I regret is that Las Vegas is too far from the city where I live.

I think playing craps would be the same everywhere.
As to poker, I would google the schedules of a few venues and pick according to my BR and the length of my stay.

Important: Leave the cards home and only take cash, the amount you're comfortable spending throughout your trip.

I visited two years ago in December and it was a fantastic time. I don’t recall the exact casino but I’m pretty sure all casinos are great for craps.

Sadly , there aren't really many great deals in Las Vegas anymore .Almost all the hotels have mandatory 'resort fees' ( plus taxes on them ) on top of their advertised rates , many have parking charges , etc . roulette wheels now have 0 ,00 and 000 ; good luck beating those odds . There are plenty of good restaurants of course , but few are cheap . As far as I know about the only good deal is the relatively low rake fees ( compared to other casinos in the US ) charged in most of the poker rooms . So I say stick to poker , and good luck !

My favorite place is the tie between Ellis Island and Green Valley Ranch. Great dealers, 10x odds, a great atmosphere, and the tables are fun to win or lose.My least favorite is Sam's Town. The dealers are great, but the crowd is awful as shit. Players argue with the dealers and pit bosses over "missed" bets that only disappear when they win. The atmosphere is terrible, and the tables are always cold. Even though the odds are 20x, I've seen shady players make absolute money there, but overall, it's terrible.

I haven’t stayed downtown since 1987…I prefer the Strip. When I was single and travelled alone, I stayed at a few hotels that no longer exist. My wife and I enjoyed the Bellagio, but decided to try the Wynn about 10 years ago…we are now exclusively Wynn customers…rooms are nice (expensive, but nice) and there are so many wonderful restaurants…the casino is classy and the poker room is OK…nothing special…lacks atmosphere. The best poker room in my opinion is the Bellagio…it has lots of atmosphere, but you will be almost guaranteed to see some of the top poker pros…now, unless you’re made of money, you won’t be playing at their table, but it is still fun to see these players you watch on TV.

As for craps, I haven’t played since the 80s, so I couldn’t comment except to say that most people play in the hotel where they are staying.
