I like that and totally agree with you. We should always take care of people who work for tips, especially that the drinks are free in this case.
I don't tip people for just doing their job, it's not up to me to pay their wages, that's their employers responsibility. I might give a tip for someone going above and beyond their job description to assist me. I find it disgusting that casino's that make a shitload of profit are not paying a fair wage to their employees.

IMHO they should charge for drinks and pay their staff a fair wage.

Here in Belize, the "free" drinks dont come around very often. You pretty much have to catch a waitress and ask. And then it takes 20 mins if you are lucky. The casino is not that big, you can see the entire area, so it shouldn't take that long. So tipping is rare but does happen. On another note, the guy who told me to hit the spin button again after I had just won the jackpot and then I hit the jackpot again, well he got a tip. Funny thing is though, I guess I didn't do it fast enough because he asked for the tip.

I think it doesn't go the same way everywhere. In certain countries, tips is a part of the popular culture.

First of all i always tip. The amount depends on the service and attitudes from servers. Its hard to figure what a fair tip is, like Sami said its not the same in all countries. I've been in Casino's where its automatically added to your tab, if you are paying for Food ,drinks, and so on. The last place i visited, quite a few years ago added 3% to total in restaurants and Bars.

In the USA waitresses are hired at wages less than minimum wage, or it was that way could of changed by now, That is a blatten way of the establishment telling you that you "HAVE TO" help pay there wages. I dont blame the employees but the establishment . So I alway make sure to tip generously. I don't know if its the same worldwide, I do know it should not be. @najisami said it, The waiters , waitresses are probably the hardest working people in the place.

They deserve a tip equal to the quality of services.

If someone ask me to tip them, i would throw them a quarter of a dollar and tell them its rude to ask for tips.

Peace
Tony

About the attitude, I agree 100%. But the service depends on where I am. In a restaurant for example, I expect a good one and most of the time I tip generously too. On the other hand, in a casino, especially a big one, you cannot possibly expect good service. The waitresses are running around like crazy, carrying trays with so many drinks. It's already enough if you get your drink and your order taken in a reasonable amount of time. So, throwing a $1 or $2 chip in their trays would not hurt and helps them make a living.
If someone ask me to tip them, i would throw them a quarter of a dollar and tell them its rude to ask for tips.

But asking for tips or standing there waiting for it is as unconventional as awkward. I might say "You'll get something when you bring me another drink" or just ignore them altogether.

If they can't earn a living on the wages their employer pays them, then they have the option to find a better paying job. You'll find that tipping is mainly a Nth American thing.
Within an expected tipping culture, how much do you tip service staff if they gave you bad service?
IMHO a tip is something that the customer decides to do, it should never be expected as a supplement to a fair wage.

If places had a service charge that went to the wait staff then I would have the option of using that establishments services or going somewhere else.

Bro, you've already made it clear that tipping is not in your culture, nothing wrong with that. Tip or don't, it's up to you.

Are you insinuating that the discussion is over, I'm confused.

Sami is insinuating that we can agree to disagree. I myself will not tip if anyone asks me to tip. I tip with my own accord.

I agree. My father worked in a casino & I know that their tip aka "for the boys" is a big part of their take home pay. But tip is an appreciation and not an entitlement.

I'm still curious as to what people in the few countries that have a tipping culture do when they get bad service, do they still tip because it is expected culturally.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:, I'm not insinuating anything man! CC is always open for business ;):ROFLMAO:, we talk and say what we think, as long as we respect each other's person and opinion. We can agree or disagree on whatever ideas we're exchanging. A great way to learn in my opinion.

From my own experience, in those countries, when people don't like the service, some don't tip, but most do leave the minimum (about 15%) but complain.

That's what I do actually. If I see that I can't tip, I don't ask for anything. I'd be embarrassed otherwise.
But tipping the wife is always good (Not talking about money 🤪😂).

Thanks for the reply Sami, to me tipping someone for bad service is the opposite of what a tip should be for.

Servers depend on tips to augment their minimum wage salaries…I can buy a 24 pack of water for $3…when I ask the server for water, I and everyone else at the poker table tips a dollar…servers don’t usually have to ask…it’s quite common and automatic.

At least for me Nick, tipping is done based on how I viewed the service. If I show up on a weekend evening to a place I know to be really popular, then I expect the service to be slower & allow for that. Should the food be received as ordered, correctly prepared, the waiter checks on our table as often as he/she can, requests are taken care of in a prompt manner, then we tip appropriate to the service & most everyone take the time to thank the waiter for the good service. If the service is bad, we take our business elsewhere.

In the casinos I visit, in our local gambling halls, you have to go and get your own drinks. But in general, I would be willing to tip if the waiter deserves it. In a restaurant or bar, I leave a tip in most cases.

Where I usually play poker, you don't have to pay the waitress, you have to pay at the reception desk before leaving and if you have any chips left, they will also cash them in. Nevertheless, if I'm winning and the waitress is nice, I usually give them to her.
