As a casual player, I'd recommend tipping a dollar or two every now and then during a game. Do this after a blow job or a good double/split. You don't need to tip a lot, but it's nice to keep the dealer involved here and there. If you have a nice win at the end of a session, then tip them a little. Some people might throw in $1/$5 when they're "on a roll." It depends on the limits you're playing. If you keep things light and fun and keep the dealer involved here and there, you'll do just fine.

I don't think tipping is something you must do every time. If the dealer is professional and you had a good experience or won a decent pot, I feel it's a nice gesture. Even a small tip shows appreciation, but it should always depend on your budget and local casino customs.

I think it's only fitting to tip a dealer when you rake a big pot, when you're being generous and when you're in a good mood...

Depends with the game and Stakes you are playing. Also I prefer tipping a dealer at the end of there deal,if it's a 20mins rotation you tip before they leave,if it's 1hr u do so before they leave

I don't care how waiters or dealers react to the tips I leave. If I leave a tip, it means I'm happy with their work. But whether they're happy with me, I don't really care :)

A smile and a simple "thank you" cost nothing. Even if $1 isn't much, showing appreciation goes a long way.

Maybe its due to the value of politeness in Vienna but there was not one single Dealer who didn't thank me for a tip. Even if it was only one €

I actually think it has to do with the working environment .
In most countries, people are underpaid and not appreciated.
That reflects on the mood and engagement of an employee.

There's a problem in casinos. The tips go into a pool that's divided among all dealers working the same shift. That's why some dealers don't really care about how much they might make since they're sharing it anyway.
In private clubs (Underground), you'd see more appreciation as every dealer works individually in most cases.

So you understand the feeling.
I think letting employees keep their own tips is better for everybody. But who knows, I could be missing some important point.

I think the same, every dealer wants to keep their own tips, unless the tips are shared with the floor man , then thats a whole other conversation

And it only makes sense. If a dealer works harder, he/she deserves to keep their tips.
Also, when they share, it doesn't motivate them to do the best they can.

I think the amount of the tip should somehow correlate with the amount of your winnings. How exactly, only you can decide.

if winning a 10$ hand and tipping 1$ which is 10% is that good enough ?
i have seen high stakes playing for 1k$ and tipping 10$ thats 1%

Tipping is a way to keep the atmosphere pleasant. blackjack dealers are working for basically minimum wage and rely on tips...most casinos pool their tips because if you are the friendliest dealer in the casino, but end up on the $5 table for your shift, you have no chance to earn as much as the nastiest dealer at the $50 table. I prefer to place bets for the dealer, so they are actually playing the hand with me...sometimes they double up...sometimes they get zero, but most seem to appreciate that. I always tip after getting blackjack.

In poker, it is customary for the winner of the hand to tip the dealer after each hand...if it is a small pot, $1 is fine, and if you win a monster pot of $500, you may tip $5 - 10. Tips can get you no advantage at all...it is simply to engage the dealers so that everyone at the table is having some kind of fun, even if it is their job.

At the table games the dealers prefer that you make a bet for them instead of just giving the chips to them. For blackjack you'd place it on the edge of the betting circle/square. At the craps table toss it onto the felt in front of you and say something like "This is for you guys/gals (or guys and gals)". If they do it differently they'll move it to the proper place. :)

PS - If you or someone else are on a hot roll on the craps table that is the time to bet for them. :)

This started out as one of the most unintentionally funny threads I've seen in awhile.

Lots of good advice here already. I never thought of it as a set amount - if I'm consistently winning, I'll tip every so often. How much depends on size of pot or win. I have also played a hand for the dealer (blackjack) - but I always feel bad when it loses. But I've never come across a dealer who didn't thank me. I think if they were as you described, I just wouldn't bother.

Dealers get paid a decent wage in my country, so tipping is not necessary, I also don't believe that players should have to subsidise workers wages, the wages are the responsibility of the casino owners.

On a rare occasion I may tip if I win a huge pot.
