To summarise it all, ‘greed’ draws people into gambling more than anything else.
I've been trying my expertise for 30 years to help our community players somehow! I'll do tomorrow I think a new thread with unknown explanations!

Hey Brigistul,
In Addition to your helpful post:
People are drawn to gambling due to psychological and biological factors, including the powerful "dopamine" rush from unpredictable rewards, the "thrill of uncertainty" and anticipation, and the emotional benefits of escape or stimulation. The variable nature of wins and losses creates a "positive feedback loop" that can lead to a compulsive need for the "high," similar to a drug addiction, where the brain becomes conditioned to seek the intense feeling of betting itself. Environmental factors and the normalization of gambling in society also contribute to its widespread appeal.

Greetings,
Natox
You're mostly right! tomorrow we post a thread with some explanation!

Some people get bored with money and spend money because they like it. Those who have a strong psyche and those who do not have a strong enough psyche can lose a lot of money, but that's how it works.

Just to add things not already mentioned:
1. I like the cerebral challenge of beating the odds, especially if it means you can make money. Which is why I focus on poker and not chess.
2. Once you start making money (and I'm only just beginning to reach that level, after a 30 year apprenticeship) gambling becomes the most pleasant form of commerce you've ever known, even on the losing days. No annual performance review, no team-building exercises, no health and safety/diversity training, and no regional director who needs smoke blowing up his/her ass once a quarter.
3. Many years ago, a mountaineer was asked why he was so obsessed with climbing a certain mountain. "Because it's there," he replied. I didn't find that particularly profound but for some reason, it finds its way into a lot of 'famous quotation' books. Well, if it's good enough for mountaineers, it's good enough for us. I gamble because it's there.

I think the escape part is real, but for me the biggest pull is the uncertainty. Even when the money is small, not knowing what happens next keeps me interested.
