Hello friends, would you allow a family member to play the casino? Your wife or husband, son or daughter? Etc, maybe they could develop an addiction and lose a lot of money in the casino.

Would I allow? This feels a lot like a cultural related question. Of course I wouldn't want my nearest and dearest to do anything stupid, but if an adult child (I don't have any though) would want to go to a casino then I can hardly prevent it.

1st of all, let's get one thing out of the way. If the family member(s) you're talking about is an adult and see me play casino games, then I certainly wouldn't be in a position to say a damn thing.
The only case where I can and have to intervene is when a minor tries to play.

Well, no one can stop an adult from gambling (as long as it’s legal in his or her country!), but I’d honestly try to talk anyone close to me (whether a relative or not) out of gambling if they didn’t have much money to spare… I think casino gambling is for people who aren’t short on cash, right? Good luck to you!

I don't mind if it's their money to spare, as long as they can genuinely afford to lose it. In fact, I'd be perfectly fine with them playing poker—especially tournaments. I'd probably be even more open to that. 😄♠️

But if a family member is gambling with their hard-earned money and it could have serious financial consequences, that's when I'd step in and give them some advice about responsible gambling—especially the importance of proper bankroll management. 💰

I would be against it. I would simply prove to them, using my own experience, that they would never make any money in such games—that it results only in financial loss and a waste of free time. I would definitely be opposed to it.
However, I wouldn't mind if a family member opened their own casino, for instance. I would certainly support such an initiative—and I’d even suggest they hire me.

I’d be okay with it if they can afford to lose and keep it under control.

Yes I would let a family member gamble in the casino as long as it's within the budget of this person and as long as I know this person is responsible.

I am not married and I do not have children. But I think I would be against my children spending time on gambling. I, the gambler in the family, would be more than enough.

If he were to go to the casino once and give it a try—without risking too much—then why not? He’ll soon realize that the casino isn’t there for him to make money; he should just view it as a form of entertainment.

In our culture you don't get to "allow or not allow" an adult to do anything.

Perhaps the question should be would you support it.

I have multiple family members who enjoy going to a casino once in a while and that is fine with me. None of them go as much as I do, nor would I encourage that for them.

My husband likes to play blackjack with me on cruise ships and we meet our best friends at casinos once in a while. But the guys mostly hang out and drink beer lol.

My daughter-in-law and my granddaughter love to go with me once or twice a year on one of my monthly trips. They stick to their budgets and know they can't go more often than that, so I enjoy it when they go. I don't invite them most months because I know they can't afford it frequently.

I am fortunate to have a budget to play once a month. It is my entertainment fund - my husband uses his for golf. We worked hard all of our lives to reach this point where we can do things we enjoy.

If he was an adult he would have the education and the freedom to go and play responsibly and carefully!

You hit the nail on the head, Debi: “culture.” Yes, it’s a matter of a country’s culture, tradition, and education, and the way people have fun and spend their money is part of their freedom of choice. If you have the means and are in the habit of gambling, why not? I think everything in life requires common sense, and gambling is one of those activities that, when done in moderation, can provide fun and occasional financial rewards. Good luck, Debi!

It’s better to Leave the Casino before the Family leaves You! 😂

I would allow a family member to gamble occasionally, as long as they do so responsibly and set a budget. However, I would worry about addiction and losing a lot of money. Family is more important than gambling, so I would support them in getting help if gambling became a problem.

I would not have any control over any adults, no matter how they were related, so if they were set on going, I would not try to stop them.
If they were new to gambling, then I would definitely school them on the basics and money management.

I wouldn't like do much the idea . Casino games can be proved to be dangerous , very addictive . You can lose| a lot of money . I wouldn't like this to happen to one of my beloved ones . But with poker , there would be no such big problem , you can control more your losses I think

I don’t mind gambling, provided the player plays responsibly and treats it as entertainment. I wouldn’t object if other members of my family gambled as well.
