You have to like AA more than KK. Reason is simple....AA beats KK.

Howard Lederer advises against going all-in on the first hand of a tournament with AA.

Says it's a long way to travel, just to go home early.

AA is always my luck one ... I lose many times for a KK but I’m still believing on it

AA followed by KK followed by QQ.
It is mathematically a no-brainer.
Of course AA can be cracked by any two cards, but starting a race/hand with a big lead is always my preferred option.

Funnily enough, I just made this account a few seconds ago because I faced this exact problem and wasn't sure if I made the right call, as I'm very new to poker.

I had a KK and felt pretty confident about it, so on the preflop I raised double the big blind and only one person called. I bet again each after the flop and turn. Then when it came to the river, the other guy went all in. I thought by this point, I couldn't exactly fold and judging by the board, the only thing that could have beaten me was AA. But that's exactly what the other guy had! :(

I'm just wondering if anyone would have done this differently, or if I didn't really do much in error, I just got pretty unlucky.

Although I like both hands as they are very strong, I prefer AA and especially at the final table ahah. With KK we still have the chance to get a higher pair and the A almost always ends up coming out, and we can be eliminated or very weakened.

Always, always, always AA. Anyone else hate that feeling holding KK and the A comes on the flop. Of course real-life experience tells me I'm no better that 50/50 holding AA against KK.

I will take either as lately I only get a pair of kings or aces with a low kicker. I always love aces pocket pair though. I have lost to AA with KK before and it hurts. But I also have lost with AA before too. So you never know, KK and AA are not always going to win.

Aturally, I like "AA" more because the combination is stronger, but I still sometimes lose with aces to kings or even jacks

I do hate raising pre-flop with KK because I always worry that an ace would pop up. Yesterday I folded KK to a pre-flop all-in and sure enough an ace came on the flop and the pot was won with a pair of aces. That would have been the end of the tourney for me.

Yes, as I understand you, very often with KK I lose to people with (A4) preflop

yesterday I won all-in with 44 (caught a full house on the post-flop) against AA ... the opponent played passively preflop ... he was offended, probably😁
