It would probably be more correct to combine several styles of play, some to act aggressively, and some to be patient.

Both styles have their place, but I think the best players know when to switch gears. Aggression can build stacks and apply pressure, while patience helps avoid costly mistakes and spot better opportunities.
Poker isn't just about playing fast or slow it's about adapting to the table.

For me, patience is the foundation and aggression is the tool.

If you play too aggressively, you'll often end up losing chips in unnecessary spots. If you're too patient, you may miss profitable opportunities.

My best results come when I patiently wait for good spots and then play them aggressively. In poker, it's not about being aggressive or passive all the time it's about adapting to your opponents and the situation at the table.

Personally, I play more tight than aggressive. If I had to put it in percentages, I’d say I play about 75% tight and 25% aggressive.

the answer to your question depend on many things;
if it's cash or tournament, profile of the players, position, blind structure and tournament stage

Sometimes aggressive and sometimes tight. More tight. Depends on chip account, number of player still in game, position, cards you have in hands, how you have played in that tourney all the time before...and others. Because, if you don't risk, you stay without chips there.

As a recreational player, I tend to play passively, and when I play aggressively I generally lose more than I win. cuddling

Honestly, it depends on the day. Sometimes I’m zen and play patiently, other times I hit the gas and go for controlled aggression. The key is avoiding tilt and keeping a clear head.

each hand is different... at times, by far, playing aggressive is the way to go... but a few hands later, playing conservative might be the way. approach every hand differently... play that hand based on your opponents, your position, and what you think their holdings are in that hand... all of that is more important than whats in your hand itself... so all of that info together, is what should determine how you play a hand

I think the best approach is a combination of both. Patience helps me wait for good opportunities and avoid getting involved in too many marginal spots, while aggression allows me to maximize value and put pressure on opponents when the situation is right.

If I had to choose one, I'd rather be known as a patient-aggressive player. Many players are patient but miss profitable opportunities, while others are aggressive without proper hand selection and end up spewing chips.

Poker rewards selective aggression. Being patient enough to choose good spots and aggressive enough to capitalize on them has always produced better results for me than playing either extreme.

Especially in tournaments, patience keeps you alive, but aggression is what helps you accumulate chips and make deep runs.

I think you have to mix it up, can't just wait for premium hands always, and also can't just be aggressive with rubbish all the time

You can be aggressive, they are not mutually exclusive. This is a TAG (tight aggressive player) which was a recommended style but loose aggressive became popular.
