I've been doing some experimenting, and I've consistently played better poker if I smoke a bit of pot before a live session. Somehow it makes me more perceptive and focused, my reads get a lot better and I seem to be a lot more patient.

Anyone have similar/different experiences?

it's already very bad, you lose a lot of buys quickly with actions that you're concentrating on wouldn't do, I've already spit out a bank of 100$ when I wanted to play after I came from a party and I was really drunk then I entered high tournaments and I ended up disappointed with my attitudes at the tables!

I'm a master chef, a great storyteller and a tireless worker when I'm stoned ... but playing Poker under the influence leads to a spiral of failures and depression. No shame in admitting that, as most intellectually taxing activities are best done sober.

Strange things happen when you're high, like I don't remember why I did something.

I think this is a terrible question. Playing poker under something I think is the root cause of losing.

No. In this case, it is better not to play at high limits.

I don’t take any drugs and I don’t drink much alcohol, so I don’t have any experiences with this…..but I guess if you are stoned or drunken when you are playing poker you will play more careless and maybe more aggressive….and this could be a reason for some successful plays in this specific session…..but I doubt that playing stoned or drunken is a good (profitable) strategy 😉…..but that is just my opinion….maybe I am wrong and this is the key for some winning sessions….🤪😉

Under the occupation of hearths, you will not be 100% focused on the game. With the same success, you can just go to play in a casino, the effect is the same minus all the money.

I believe that you need to play poker in your right mind and condition, otherwise you are doomed to lose! If you are stoned it is better to refrain from gambling, especially from poker! I wish you good luck at the tables and stay sane!

I am against alcohol and smoking. I believe that only sport can make a player better, more disciplined and patient.

I could be wrong, but I think most people who replied to this thread have never smoked. In fact, when you're stoned, just enough though, your ability to focus is higher than normal. It could be beneficial in a live game, but not online and especially not when multitabling.

But the problem is that you cannot stay in the same state of mind for a long time and you can certainly not measure how much you should smoke in order to "stay in the zone" enough to make a session profitable.

Consequently, get stoned when you want to relax and listen to some good music. Poker needs all your attention, concentration and patience.

this thread was almost 5 years ago and since then many times iv had good and bad decisions, and guess what, i also had the same experience sober...
its like the thing with drunk and driving have less crashes overall if you see stats about people crashing sober. o_O bad analogy i know

Sorry but I would only prefer smoking pots at the table made of opponents’ chips!

I don't drink a single drop of alcohol, I'm part of the Zillennials Generation, but I recommend you don't do that, even though I haven't tried it myself.
