Well I posted most of August's graph in my blog a few days ago saying i was on a break for a week. The break lasted like 2 days and I started playing again, lol. So here's an updated final August Graph. A great month considering I cleared a $240 deposit bonus and won 3 FPP satellites for $625. Also made platinum again :)

September Goals:

Play/Study mostly 6max for the whole month

30k hands (Schools in session so I won't be able to play as much)

Keep working to control tilt/anger

August Goals

1. 30K hands played, of which i want at least 10K at 10NL

I failed, only 25K hands played. Did manage over 10K at 10NL which was good. This was mainly becasuse I dropped from 6tables to 4 for about 3 weeks of the month. Back up to 6 now , thought not sure how many ill play at 25nl.

2. Finish on the FT of one big MTT (360+ entrants)

Passed! Entered the 1$ Donkathalon and finished 2nd for a nice $200

3. Build BR up to ~$600 and look to move to 25NL

Passed in the very last week. Was over $600 for quite a while before i moved up. Moved back down yesterday while I was downswinging to just settle myself down a little but am going back up there tommorrow!

4. As I go up in limits contribute more to the HA section to improve my game

I think I passed this. Ive definetly posted more of my hands I have trouble with as ive gone up in limits and am trying to contribute where I can. Reading what alot of the better players say has definetly improved my game

August Graph

Started slowly, picked up nicley, then went on a swing-spree when I moved up. Still its nice, and if you add $200 from the tourney win thats a nice profit for the month considering I was playing 5NL at the start of the month.

augvn6.jpg

September Goals

1. 25K hands played, of which 15K to be played at 25NL

2. Make SilverStar!

3. Build BR up to break through the $1000 mark, look to move up to 50nl at $1500

4. Study up on 6max. My 6max game is horrific, i become a total spewtard when i sit at a 6max table. So i plan to get 25nl conqeured then look at some 10nl 6 max. If things go well join stox and move up.

5. More hands in HA, with more discussion on other peoples hands, even if its in limits above my own.

6. Win HU Championship! Stop sucking at the Fantasy Football. Play some daily CC games at PokerStars.

Oh and this is the last time youll see me with a PT graph. Made the move to HEM this month and like it SOO much better, and its cheaper to buy. Planning on buying it when my 16day trial period expires.

Was going to do my own thread on this but may as well just jump on here.

My goal is always to generate £50.00 profit (approx $110) and then withdraw it. Then start over. Always playing at $0.10/0.20. Managed to withdraw twice in August. Yay!

PT3 graph:

p.s. I'm married with a 3 year old and a 1 year old, I work full time and I exercise a lot, so poker playing time is limited. That said, I play FR NLH 2-3 times a week on 4-8 tables at a time. Until I have more time, no plans to move up a level as I don't have the time to get better. Just keep reading and playing to maintain ability at current level for now.

Setting monthly goals is a great idea. I might start my own list. You keep it in any particular format or just post it?

I kinda met my original goal, which was just to make ~$1500 for the month AND NOT WITHDRAW ANY OF IT so i would be well rolled for nl100 in sept. I was up $1500 after a week i think (played quite alot) then i hit a horrible downswing of almost 20k hands where i was stuck like $600 or so. Luckily, i cleared a reload bonus and won 2 $215 sats so my BR didn't actually go down during this period but pretty awful to play.

Part of the downswing was being about 12 buy ins below EV but i think alot was me moving to nl100, getting fps for the first little while and losing about 3 buy ins, then starting to play quite well but running really bad. Ended up like 6k hands of nl100 about 1 1/2 buy ins down, but that was with about 4 buy ins below Ev, and considering i was geniunely 3 buy ins down early on (nothing to do with bad luck just playing like an idiot), it could have actually been quite an ok transition.

So then i went against my 2nd goal, and took all my PokerStars money out (i always do this, so it hardly helps me in building a roll...can't think of a single month where i haven't taken out a good chunk of my roll and put it in my bank account) and moved 1k to titan to see how the play was/clearing bonus, but the main reason was that i wanted 6 months of stox membership without having to pay for it. Anyways, 2 days of that and horrible software (no time so you time out all the time) and an inability to play anywhere near the hands/hr i was at PokerStars and i had to withdraw that and start rebuilding my stars BR, now only able to play nl50 since you can't deposit much. 2nd reason was i think that i am set on transitioning over to 6 max, and i am trying to curb a tendency to randomly spew money at 6 max in stupid call downs/bluffs when i'm not running all that well (so partly tilt i guess...but i really need to be able to ACTUALLY lay down hands when my gut knows i'm beat...like qq on a T high board vs a nit who is valueetowning me and i know is only really doing it with kk/aa but i just hope he has jj even tho i know he never does). So my winrate at nl50 6 max being so small (like 3BB/100 or something) certainly didn't help the downswing.

So sept goals have nothing to do with money really. I dont' want to be playing all that much because uni is starting up again, so i simply want to just focus on getting better at 6 max by watching stox videos. I think i'll just keep with my small stars roll at the moment since it is enough for 50nl, and if i start to actually pick up 6 max well i'll move over to nl100 6max next month. 50 nl i alot easier to deal with the swings anyways, and i don't really want to have poker dominating my thoughts too much over the next while.

anyways long rant and i'm sure nobody will acxtually read it but oh well.

Here's the link to last month's thread:
https://www.cardschat.com/forum/general-poker-13/july-goals-recaps-august-goals-120945/

oh yea that reminds me, another goal of mine is to not play an mtt/sng (other than 5400 sats) this entire month. and i'm also not sure what i was thinking when i said my winrate for nl50 6 max was at 3BB/100 this month (i think that is my overall for nl50 6 max) because i was actually stuck like 3 buy ins over 5 or 6k hands (so it actulaly "helped" the downswing quite a bit).

honestly, my only goal this month is to be able to discipline myself to make the big folds that i KNOW i should be making, but i manage to use some idiotic logic to convince myself otherwise. 50nl 6 max is so crushable wth a little discipline.

I am very happy with my august. Started the month at 25NL FR and got that break even swong for about 13k hands and then made the switch to 6max which turned out to be the best idea. Moved up to 50NL 6m at around 30k hands and been running on a 6.5ptbb/100 heater for 10k hands. I am happy with how much volume I put in and now back at school so its gonna be harder to do but still hoping to get 30k hands. 100NL might be a thought if I dont decide to cash out some bankroll to go be a baller at the bar.

[x] 1st 1k month
[x] 1st gold star month

I also played the Turbo takedown which i did not satelite into and just payed the 5k fpps and did not cash due to floping nut straight vs set but board paired and I went out the door. That would of been an extra 50 in rakeback if I didnt play the TT.

September:
Play 30k hands
Run Good
Take some 100NL shots
Maybe switch to Full Tilt for rake

Dude, I was like crying when I had a little 20k break-even stretch back in march. I envy your work ethic :)

**** August imo. 4/9 in 5400 satellites though for $214 each so a barely positive month, but I wanna know where I can cash these Sklansky bucks.

Well my goal for August was, "don't suck." I guess I did that, at least I made some money and recovered from my huge downswing at the end of last month. I decided to move to 6-max so I didn't expect to make all that much but I'm pretty proud of how much I made since whenever I tried 6-max in the past I just spewed like there was no tomorrow.

I only played four tables of 6-max this month so it was hard to get in a ton of hands, especially since I had played about 1100 hands up until the 14th of the month. I'll probably move up to six tables some time this month but I am still making some pretty spewy plays and I need to stop that first.

augustgraphin2.png

auguststatsqx9.png

So yeah it was a good month, I finally got 25,000FPP and am in the middle of clearing a $285 bonus. Unfortunately I didn't play enough to get gold star again but I think I should easily be able to play enough to make it in September, I was only 800VPP away this month and I only played half the time. If I bump it up to 6 tables it should be a breeze, maybe I'll be able to take a run at platinum if I find more time to play, I doubt it though.

I'm not going to set any money goals, not even a number of hands goal since I don't know how much time I'll have to play. I just want to continue to improve at 6-max, I need to start posting in the hand analysis section again because I know it helps and right now the only thing I'm doing to improve is play and that can only get me so far I guess. Oh and if I have a really good month and make it to $2300 I'm taking $300 out and getting a StoxPoker membership, but that will probably have to wait until October.

There is a marketplace on 2+2 where people buy T$ for like 98% of it's value.

Just about breakeven in tournies for the month, which considering my average buyin has gone up to $92 is no bad thing.

70th in the million was the highlight but no final tables.

Augopr

Much to my surprise I moved to 200nl during the month. Started at 18k hands and as you can see is going ok.

Coping with this kind of beat for $200 a pop is taking some getting used to, but BRM wise I'm in good shape.

OK, so last month's goals:

1 - Re-read Read 'em and Reap, keep practicing tell identification with televised poker games. Let's say add tells on 20 new players to the database, so it's quantifiable.

Achieved, think I'm starting to make some real progress on the tells side of things. Haven't had many chances outside drunken home games to try them out live though. Still, the tells some of the pros give off on TV are fascinating...

2 - Stick to my +ROI games. So no HU LOLmaha, no HORSE, no Razz ring games and no MTTs (I'll make an exception for MTTs with an FPP buy-in if I feel the need to scratch that itch). If it weren't for them I would've had a winning month last month.

Also achieved, with some pretty sweet results if I do say so myself:

OzAugust08.jpg

<3 HU shootout upswings

3 - Play 100 SnGs.

Achieved - ended up playing 127. Not huge, I know, but it's a fairly big number for me.

4 - Find a new job (not poker related... though I guess poker could get in the way :p )

OK, so I failed on the non-poker goal. Oh well

So for September, let's try:

1 - Add another dozen tells from televised games to the database. Bonus points if I can find at tell on one of the following: Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Greg Raymer, Adam Junglen, Sam Farha, Erick Lindgren or *gulp* Chris Ferguson

2 - Stay with my current +ROI games for another month

3 - Play 125 SnGs, and don't lose back what I won this month
