When I play in New Hampshire they always do a "bomb pot" when the new dealer comes in. That isn't very many hands but the game intrigued me so I've begun playing some freerolls and a few cash games on ACR. It took a bit to adjust to the difference from NLHE but I'm getting the feel for it and doing pretty well. I'm also enjoying it so I think that when I go to Vegas next year I'll try it out live. :)

Omaha is great if you like to play more for completed draws and trying to keep track of them all. There's also a lot more variance to it, so hopefully you are getting a sampling of both the good and bad times - because the downswings are quite brutal when they hit.

Some practice has got to help in your bomb pots.
Hopefully your opposition will just regard them as a novelty and those pots will be the only bit of Omaha they ever play, in which case you should get a decent edge(y)

I definitely don't always win. :) I've played poker for at least sixty years since my parents taught me when I was a "tween" (between child and teen). Until the past twenty-five years or so seven-card stud was the most popular game in the casino, and I played a lot of it. The calculations involved with playing Omaha are very similar in both high games and high/low games. That is probably why I enjoy it so much. :)

Practice definitely helps to develop your skills in any activity. After I'd been playing live tourneys for about three or four months I joined Global Poker for practice. Not only was it free, but I could play a lot more. :) All that practice definitely paid off in those Sunday morning tournaments at Foxwoods. :)

Omaha is very good, but in my opinion it's harder than NLHE and also has greater variance.

I also really like Omaha, it's very fun game. But the variance is brutal, that's why I play mostly NLH.

Just keep in mind that variance is felt much more in live play, especially with those big pots right from the start. bankroll management and patience will be key in Vegas.

Omaha is really hard, so props for diving in. Bomb pots especially can be overwhelming because equities run so close and mistakes get punished fast. Coming from NLHE, just adjusting to hand values and redraws takes time. If you’re enjoying it though, that’s the best sign you’re on the right track. By the time you get to Vegas you’ll probably feel a lot more comfortable playing it live, and the bomb pots there can be wild.

There some nice hands in the "Hungry Horse" Youtube series.
Also a good series for live players.

That´s insane! 4 card is enough for me at the moment. Maybe someday!

Doesn't he just play PLO bomb pots?

I think that depends on the live table occurances.
Noramlly they try to teach NLHE Cashgame pure, but the series with Texas Tommy had some PLO bomb pot hands in it.

yes ,plo8 is quite complicated and yet relatively easy to win at if you follow some simple strategy.
