Besides the money, what makes you play poker?

I really enjoy the thrill of making it really deep into the tournament and knowing that I've outlasted hundreds/thousands of players.

I'm also a big fan of games involving strategy and poker has a decent amount of strategy involved. Every table/player/hand is different and you must be able to adjust your strategy according to this.

I don't play poker that has no money to win even if it's only pocket change. So I guess mostly for the money and the challenge of prying the chips from someone else.

Honestly the real reason I play poker is to become a winning player and the real reason I want to become a winning player is so that people will think I'm cool if they ask me about poker and how much I've made from it lol

The Money, now thats funny. I dont make money at poker, I used to but it has become so different that I cant explain, and its not the players are better but nothing works out like it used to. Im one of these weirdos that likes studying poker more than playing it. On the study the games seems so hopeful and full of light then you start playing and realize that very little of that shit works and gets set up like it is when you study.

Im competitive. The idea of going head to head with another player and coming out on top. Its fun. With real money involved it gets to be even more intense. Love the pressure.

I grew up playing board games, chess and card games loved them all. Chess was my favorite I could view the game with many moves ahead. Poker is chess on hyper drive. I just love it.

That feeling of betting and feeling your heart racing is priceless ... I also like to do the reading of hands on my opponents and when I hit the reading I am happy.

For a long time I just played with play chips so it was never about the money. Just the thought of taking down a huge pot and raking in the chips starts to get the adrenaline going! Some might say I live and die on every card but I don't see how I could ever change. I think everyone gets something different from it so that is what makes us all unique and why so many different people like to play poker!
