Cash players vs tournament players

Friends, I've always wondered who are the best players, cash game players or tournament players? Who can adapt better, the player who goes from tournaments to cash game or the one who goes from cash game to tournaments? What do you think?

Personally I think it is easier for Cash Game > go to > Tournament play (vs. the opposite) but both formats have their own unique qualities.

definitely 2 different styles of play here, a combination of both is required to have any success at playing poker. Those that master the 2 styles can become the best.

I read an article that a famous cash game player won a live tournament, although he does not like to play this format. It is easier for a cash game player to tune in to the game, as they make more balanced decisions. This applies to exceptionally good players.

cash players are the better players for me because in my opinion and according to my experience cash game requires more skill than tournaments . not to take anything from tournament players of course

I think if you are a good tournament player you can be a good cash player. But if you are use to playing cash and try tournaments it might be harder since you are not use to playing with blinds going up and how to play at certain levels. I hardly bluff when I'm playing cash and play very solid. In tournaments I'm more aggressive and will bluff more or gamble more.

Hello. That's a good question. The games are of two different worlds to me. In cash, a person learns more about playing against many weak players. In MTTs. Its competing with regulars. Both have their own ranges and tactics. I will say that it's not who could be best all-around, but who can play both and win. My opinion only.

I am not a fan of tournament poker. Television has made tournament poker look glamorous and like a competition where skill prevails. However, the truth of the matter is that luck plays much larger factor in tournament than in ring games. Think about it this way: at a regular no-limit game, if you started with $ 2,000 what is the chance that you would end up with $ 2 million before the night was over? Zero. However, to win a tournament where each player has 2k starting chips and 1,000 people enter, you would need to win two million in chips to win the tournament. Not an easy feat to do unless lady luck truly smiled upon you that day!

prefer tourneys, as i am better in it and what is one of the most important, if i have a bad beat, tilt, i lose less, meantime, that can really hurt in CG.

While cash games are usually win slow or lose slow and tournaments are double your money (or more) or lose it all.
Сash game and tournament are totally diffetent and i think that nowadays the best strategy in tournament is to play passive and lose less chips than you win. in cash game if you are passive you don't go anywhere.

Cash is more rewarding, it's a hard grind but so satisfying playing deep stacked poker. When playing cash games you resort to more decisions getting to the river than push, fold poker you experience in tournaments. In cash games you can handcuff your opponents into extremely daunting decisions. Cash is king!
