Has anyone ever played in these?
I have a lot of times, and wow, its completely donk loaded....and granted, i'm one of them.
But since they occur so often, and so many people are donks, i wonder, does anyone good actually make it through.
I made some solid plays, and got up to a high position about 1/3 of people left in tourney.
Blinds are ridiculous at this point, because in normal tourney, when blinds arer 60-120, maybe, maybe, 1/10 of tourney is depleted, and even thats a fast round.
So even when there a 1/3 of people left, i raise with 33, and people raise all in (3 of em) with best hand being K-9, or J-9 suited.
Has anyone ever made it to the 2nd round of these tourneys, and does the play ever get better, or are these luck fests (and i know skill is involved, but its like walking through a mine field)?

yes actually i have been playing in these. the players are terrible. After two hands theres like 100 or less people still in. I still havent won but i got a couple final tables

Yes, I've qualified before for a round 2. I played in the 180 person SnG, where two people qualify for round 2, and I was one of them. The play in round 2 was a bit better, but still donk loaded, just not as bad. I was not able to go on farther past round 2. Since then, I've kind of given up on these .com freerolls, but now that I have more time, I might just get back into them. They are fun, and difficult. I guess it's worth a shot if you have time to kill.

Update, made it to 15th place, and i certainly played down to the competition. The play got a little stronger in the final 2-3 tables, but not by much, and with the play so loose (seeing people showing winning hands of 7-j, kind of made me play looser too, trying to catch and take down players as bad as myself but playing with strong hands, like KK and JJ, were the ones that took me out the most, just bad luck as Aces showed up on flop each time, and with 3 callers one time, and 2 the other pre-flop on big raises, couldn't risk losing it all by pushing in on those hands.

I play in the 180 peep ts on a nightly basis and have excellent luck. Depending on how many I will play in a night I can make consecutive final tables and you are right that is where the real play begins however don't count out the fact that there will still be a couple donks left. I have won over a dozen of these but I just go and unregister from the second round tourney and take the 100FTP to use in other tourneys that are available. You do not need to go all-in all the time to win you can still play a smart and patient game to get far. They average about an hour to an hour and 15min so you can kind of calculate when you need to make something happen if you are so short stacked there is no way your going to get back in the game. I have walked into final table with 6k and within 5min gone from short stack to chip leader and on to win.
