Do you come from a gambling family?

My father's side of the family loved playing poker, every Friday night was poker night at the house. If for on my dad's lap and watch. He taught me to play when I was ten. We went to the horse races a lot and eventually my entire family moved to Vegas. Playing poker and loving the game is in my genes. I'm not a champion, but I've won tournaments and I play every day. Poker is in my genes. What about you?

No, I'm the only one who plays poker, all my relatives don't believe that you can win something without investing anything, for many poker and casinos are scammers who deceive players.

My father was big into gambling, not so much anymore because he did not have the tools that I have these days to become a great and profitable player.
Not sure about my grandfathers but everyone else in my famuly has been looking at gambling as throwing away money..

no i'm the only one who plays poker and they don't really understand what poker is either, they think if you sit at the computer for more than 8 hours every day and play then you're addicted. I tried to explain that sometimes you have tournaments that even last longer than 10 hours, but they have little understanding for something like that. but since I haven't stopped playing, they leave me alone now. I know my family loves me and they want to protect me in some way and they really hope that one day I might stop playing.

I'm the first poker player in my family, it's hard to convince that poker can be a profession, of course without fixed profits. I haven't had a big win in poker yet to show the gains, but I'm looking for that win to take away this distrust of my family

That's definitely not my case. My mom don't like poker and my dad doesn't even know how to play. I learned to play by myself when I was 18 and when I was in college I met a couple of friends that liked poker too.

Good question. Yes, my father ran a card table in his spare dining room. I can remember the craic that was had. Wads of notes on show which did impress a young mind. I think that may have given me inspiration. It looked exciting!

Yes on my father’s side 3 generation of bookmakers. My uncle also owned a bingo hall for while I have seen both the good and the bad of gambling. I’m personally not a big gambler stick low stake for fun and the odd sports bet.

Went to vegas once with my parents as a they heard about the place and it was on their bucket list. Mom put in $20 into a slot machine she won 7 dollars on the first spin and cashed out to never bet again that weekend.

My father loved to play poker and he taught my brother and I when I was about 12 years old. He would stay out all night playing sometimes. One time on a family trip to Mexico the 3 of us went out and found a local game and played all night. Great memories to have now that he is gone due to cancer.
