I am a nit to a fault, especially in home games when playing with friends, however I do cash more often than not but that is due to getting very lucky all inning short stacked.

I'm a player who plays very few hands, sometimes I think I could change my style of play, be a little more aggressive, but the big problem is as I play almost exclusively in freerolls, it won't help much because in this tournament the vast majority of players they're recreational and they pay a lot, so I think I'll stick with my style anyway.:)

I consider myself a tight-agressive player, but not a nit. I try to change my game in certain situtations but in general I am rather tight than loose.

Ha Ha Ha....

Your introductory comments in this thread sound familiar to me...lol

My natural style is to be a Nit... and No offense taken. As it seems you are familiar, and this playing style it is Not So Bad... You win occasionally as a Nit, and if just playing freerolls and low $ games, you are likely modestly profitable.

But the more you play as a Nit, you start to have an awakening and realize you need to step out of your comfort zone on select accessions to be more competitive on a regular basis... and so the evolution continues...Personally, I just play recreationally and am still working on the evolution process, lol!

Being able to change gears is very important skill to acquire, but having a foundation as a Nit, is not a bad starting point, In My Opinion.

Best of Luck At The Tables All,

Teddy

When I started to play poker, I was a nit, I just played high pairs and AK, AQ, and just played hit and fold. But when I learned and understood more about poker, I changed my playstyle. It helps me increase my win rate a lot.

To be a consistent winner in cash games you need to be a nit most of the time. But being a nit when playing a tournament, while the blinds are low for the stacks, makes sense.

Honestly, I consider myself a beginner who just tries not to play with junk. I don't know what this style is called and whether it exists at all, but I'm definitely a beginner. :)

Not really, only when i'm close to the bubble then i might be a "Nit" but i think most people are close to a bubble and then i just go back to my old playing, or when close to a FT and the prize jump is super high i will be a nit and wait for the FT, think it's fine in most cases unless you chips are bleeding out then i think being a nit isn't going to help

I think 80% of the time I'm a NIT, especially when I'm playing for real money. in Freeroll, I'm NIT by maybe 40%, sometimes it's interesting to be a

At my working limit, I'm definitely not a nit, but if I go to higher limits, then yes. Somehow I'm starting to play tighter.

Is it a problem to be one?

Remember that at the beginning of a tournament you need to be nit to build a stack and know your opponents.

I do not consider myself a NIT player, but if I try not to play bad hands, it also depends on the position I am in, if I am close to the bubble, etc.

For me I try to adapt my play to the table, if there are a lot of tight players I like playing marginal hands like 86o, and a conservative approach in a loose table.

Where I am from a NIT is related to lice in your hair. I am certainly not that.

We also have what is called a NIT WIT. That is somebody that is rather dumb. Don't think I am one of those either ?

So are you hanging out in somebody's head or are you a stunned lump ????

I don't think it's appropriate to call a man a nit for his game. After all, we make money on poker, and how no one earns it is everyone’s business, because after winning they don’t share with us and if we win we don’t share with anyone, so if a person plays very secret in a cash game, then this is his choice.
