Do You Drink While You Play?

Never play drunk or upset! I never won anything during that times! I only got frustrated and played really bad....

Best to stick with a cup of tea or a soft drink.

If I want to drink then I will only play freerolls that night. The last time I was drunk was about 4 years ago and many years before that.

Drinking doesn't really affect me much unless I drink a lot. But I choose not to play when I have a few drinks in case I decide to drink a few more I don't want to be deep in real money stuff with important decisions to make.

Depends on how booze affects you.

Some people it helps, some it doesn't but generally it's a bad idea.

You can enjoy a few drinks a the table for sure, just don't get hammered.

I've lost a lot of money live by getting too friendly with the bottle.

I like to drink while I play, but I think it should be controlled.
I think it's a bit of a hassle to drink, I might even get a bit more aggressive in the game, but I certainly will not do a good game all the time.

I might have a few beers but getting drunk makes you play loosely, play bad hands and get aggeressive with with marginable
hands. At lease for me.

But the percentage to lose money - is very large)))
I, if I drink, I play one or two tournaments at minimum rates ...
And the pleasure you get .. and a little lose ..))
But it's better to play sober !!!)))

Once I drank , I lost big in casino slot-didn't know what I was doing , another time I was silly while I was playing poker , no more alchohol for me while I play , only coke , orange juices

I can't play if I've drank too much but I have noticed that I can play better and have more patience if I have a beer or two, go figure. ..lol

I think maybe a drink or two is OK, if you need it to calm your nerves a bit, but too much can affect your game. Ideally no drinking is probably the best, but to each their own. If I am just playing for fun, like at a free bar league poker game, then sometimes I would drink, though I haven't played at any of the bar games in the past couple years TBH.

I drink while playing with friends but there focus is more on drinking and chat than the game anyway. For any serious game i do not recommend it as it changes your mind and affects concentration negatively.

Regarding the aggresiveness when drunk - the only thing alcohol does is to lft your barriers. If deep in you you are frustrated and aggressive it will unlock it and you will act this way on the table. If you are happy you will start making fun. If you are sad it will make that sadness deeper. In any case it will make you act much more based on emotions than driven by clear mind. And that is definitely bad.

To drink during the game, bad idea, I agree with the author of the post! The game becomes aggressive and unyielding - all hands like the latter and it's hard to discard cards, even trash!

No. I never drink while playing. I need to be 100% focus on game.

Also I usually don't drink even when I am not playing poker

You are very lucky that you stayed in profit! Alcohol and poker are not compatible things. Very many guys are draining their bankroll in one evening! It all starts with one glass, and then the excitement and emotions come into the game, which will eventually drag you to the very bottom (Live soberly, play soberly, then you will succeed!

when I want to drink, I do not open poker I just walk with my friends! you can lose bankroll by stupidity! poker and alcohol are not compatible at least I decided for myself!

You are really lucky when I have a drink and sit down to play ... then my capital comes to an end =)

Absolutely agree with you. As soon as you drink you become aggressive and do ill-considered actions, so my advice is, do not get drunk for the game.
