Poker is like an additional income, the main thing is not to get carried away so as not to lose a lot of money. Better to have a good robot.

No! And if someone wants to know what I do I might tell them I am a professional axe thrower and compete on the arm-wrestling circuit during the axe throwing off-season, or some other made up bs, because what I do is not the business of someone I just met.

I would say that I'm a poker player just yet since for now it's what I do as a passion. But if I'm making a living from it or constantly in games or tournaments, then I would be one. Being one has a tracked history.

I honestly don't like having the conversation in general, I will always try to divert the conversation if I feel it naturally going that way

If someone asks me point blank I will tell them about what I do, but I don't like to talk about it to be honest. People don't understand and look at me funny if I tell them what I do.

I am retired, so people ask me what I used to do for a living. Nobody asks old guys like me what we do for a living. If they ask about my hobbies, or how I spend my time, I will include poker among the list of many things I enjoy doing.

The truth is I do not present myself as a professional player, more as a lover, but many who know me already know the ability to play that I have! But my work activity is different, not mainly poker!

no, if I were to introduce myself, I would rather introduce myself as a poker lover, because I don't earn my living from the game of poker :)

Me and poker

In my life, I don't advertise my passion for playing poker. Many people have a negative attitude to gambling. Only my family knows that I like to play poker. I don't think it's necessary to tell everyone about it and position myself as a poker player. I think that's right.

When I meet, I usually introduce myself to talk about my profession, not poker. I can only talk about poker if I know that the other person shares my interests.

I imagine myself as a poker player, as an average level, able to make small amounts of money, I wear a jersey and a cap with the pokerstars logo in the summer and people think that I am a poker player, but I haven’t achieved great results yet.

well some of us are professional poker players who make living out of poker and poker is our daily job. I myself almost introduce myself as a poker player however in some places they don't like that. they look like me as a gambler and they consider gamble taboo.
what about you guys, do you introduce yourself as a poker player? how do you introduce yourself to new people who ask what is your job and what is your occupation currently?

To such questions, I answer that I am engaged in wholesale trade on the Internet through a social network.

not yet, when I start to have a financial return, I will definitely say that I am a poker player and show that it is not a game of chance.

I do not introduce myself as a poker player, as this is not my profession, I play poker for fun! But if poker brought me good money, then I would probably introduce myself as a poker player, and I would not be interested in the opinion of others about it! Hopefully in the future I will introduce myself as a professional poker player! Good luck to everyone at the tables!

don't feel ashamed. introduce yourself as a professional player. we must break this taboo. It is very difficult to win tournaments and make a living from poker. we must be valued.

Because I had to take early retirement due to ill health, I did say to a couple of Friends that now I can call myself a Professional Poker Player, as that is all the excitement I can take in one day and keep the old ticker going, but they know I was only joking.
As you said earlier it is still frowned upon, by many in society because it is considered to be a form of gambling, but my answer to them is "It is only gambling if you don't know how to play" Playing Poker does not constitute gambling if you have never invested your own money into it, on-line has never cost me a penny, so everything I have in my accounts is Free Money! therefore it cannot be considered gambling.
Going to play in a weekly event at my local Pub, to me a night out with the boy's and it is still a damned sight cheaper than going to a Night Club, or even the Cinema, so where is the harm in that?
Fixed buy-in games, are the normal games I prefer to play, and I consider the buy-in as the price I am willing to pay for entrance into the game, just like some people will pay out £20+ to watch their local Football team play, and well over £60+ to watch a bigger Team play, where is the fun in that? They get no return on their money other than the privileged to watch 22 grown men chase a ball around for 90 minutes, I will stick to my poker games Thank's.

When the fun Stops, STOP!
