Do you introduce yourself as a poker player?

I definitely do not introduce myself as a poker player. I do however say I play poker if the person asks what I do. I’m a disabled veteran so I don’t really do much of anything really. Except play poker!! Lol

As I'm not a pro player, I don't introduce myself as poker player. Even tough, every time I say that I play poker I end making new friends (and potentially money givers once we play together lol)

I do not do it because I am not a poker player, although I have spent a lot of time on it for 4 months. If I considered playing poker, I would surely say so. What I do is comment that I play, that when the opportunity is given in some situation.

No. I play poker, but that does not define me and I do not make a living from poker.

If I did and someone asked what I do for a living, I would tell them and I would not be worried about their reaction.

If I could make money doing this I would introduce myself as such, but only if someone asked me what I do for fun or for money or something. I'm not just going to put that I'm a poker player every time I introduce myself. That's just silly.

I don't think I define myself as a poker player per se.
Sure, I play poker most days...but I cook most days and don't consider myself a chef.

Poker for me, although I am trying to learn and improve my game, remains a diversion. Something for me to do which I enjoy and doesn't cost me much.

If someone asked me what I like to do, outside of work, sure, I'd talk about poker. (I talk about poker a bit too much probably)...but to me, being a person who plays poker and being a "poker player" are different in my head. I guess I just see it as a Poker player being someone who actually relies on it as a source of income.
I can still go out an kick a football (soccer ball) around, but that doesn't make me a football (soccer) player.
Nevertheless, as my latest obsession/hobby, Poker does occupy a significant amount of my time...so maybe I should!

I definitely don't introduce myself as a poker player. It would be very presumptuous of me. Although I have a good game, my achievements are amateurish. It would be a great pleasure to introduce myself as a poker player, but the achievements have to be great for that. I'm still an amateur for now!

I remember reading that Doyle Brunson was introduced to his Girl friends parents and when he was asked what he did for a living he told them he was a book maker, They thought he Printed books.
As a Joke I sometimes say I am a professional poker player now as I am retired and don't need to work.
My pension looks after me now, I know my poker winnings wouldn't go far.
