Phil is an excellent player. He wouldn't be where he is if he wasn't. Anyone who thinks he's excessive and "over-the-top" w/his extravagant entrances and blow-ups are right but don't get stuck on that distraction. He's just bringing attention to the game and giving folx something to tweet about. I'd have him on my team any time.

And I must say that in these times of players that look like bots, don’t say a word, no nice reactions to anything, that takes 30 secs to fold pre flop rags, etc, makes Phil look even better.

While I recognize that Hellmuth has had an amazing poker career, it gets annoying watching someone do things that would see me banned from the casino if I was to do the same.

Yet when I see a broadcast involving him, I can't help but watch. It has gotten less about the poker and more about hoping someone bluffs him out of a big pot so I can watch him bitch and complain.

If that makes me a fan, then so be it. I like to think of it more as hate watching.

Honestly - I don’t dislike him.
I dislike what he represents.

Whenever I see some annoying, boisterous person at the table, I get the feeling that their “immaturity” is inspired by him.

I don’t want to be playing against Phil Hellmuth… unless it’s Phil Hellmuth.

In a big field No limit tournament he's clearly one of the best players, knowing when to switch gears and run over weak players.

If he's in a TV cash game line up, he's a guilty pleasure to watch; everyone is hoping he gets bluffed out of a huge pot.
