Which do you prefer... Chocolate cake 'or' getting kicked in the teeth?

For me it's close. I like chocolate cake but who can resist taking a nice boot to the chops?

AA has very rarely treated me very well, so I’d go with AK.

Okay... I thought it is funny, but what puzzles me is why so many people prefer AK here. I just do not get it - AA is sooo much better. You people do not play cash games? If you do and take any statistics with reasonable sample size, you can check which cards bring you more profit. Something like this:

Of course, it is going to be a bit random, it is going to be different for everyone, but with a bigger sample, there is just no way to win more with AK than with AA. Impossible. The bigger the sample, the bigger the gap.
AKo being over 3X as profitable as suited is wild lol

Have you considered pretending your suited aces are not suited?

AA is obviously the better hand but you'll get it almost 3 times as less often.

Overly sticky players are probably much more likely to get stacked with aces than AK because AK Is A drAwiNg hAnd and folks are probably a lot less attached. PLO has helped me learn to fold the rockets more often. Feels bad but when folks play face up it's easier to do.

I don't think AK vs AA is a fair comparison. I think I would rather ask would someone rather have AK twice or AA once. That makes the question more statistically relevant due to combos available and interesting because any rational player should choose AA every time.

Oh, well, it is just a sample, and poker is a high-variance game. Perhaps I played AKo much more carefully than AKs? I do not remember. Obviously, suited AK should earn slightly more longterm than AKo. It doesn't change the fact AA are far ahead ;)

I prefer AA, because it's already a good hand and a favorite in most cases.
AK is strong, but it still depends a lot on hitting the flop.

Even though aces have been letting me down lately, I still love them. But they hate me.

Always AA unless suited AK. But still, AA undeniably tempting

I prefer JJ, he's infallible, you trust him and he always disappoints you, lol. Of course, if you can choose, AA is always the best.

I prefer AK in terms of playability, even though AA is objectively stronger preflop. AA often plays itself you get it in and hope to hold while AK creates more interesting decisions and postflop skill edges, especially when you connect or miss and have to navigate aggression. AK gives you more flexibility and opportunities to outplay opponents, while AA is more about raw equity and variance control.

AA to play pre flop and AK for post flop, even better in a multi way pot for me.

I prefer AA, but I did hit a Royal Flush last week with AQ of spades.
1st time in at least 5 years.
