Do you prefer playing online or live poker?

for me, live vs online poker,
live is "how to read people" but their is always clicking the chips (online)
Read people is better then Online personally but who knows?

live is easier for me not so many players going all in all the time. Can not read or figure how come they always go all in.

I think online is harder. Variance is ridiculous. When your playing live, typically the investment cost is higher and people tend to play better. I view people having decent skills gives the game better predictability and common sense folds prevents the most tragic suckouts. When playing in person, I've rarely lost to rag rag coming from a ridiculous pre-flop caller. It happens all the time online.

I think that live poker is more interesting, more feelings and excitement. Online poker is very emotional. Well, the emotions in the game - not the best ally.

I've played both for about 13 years and would have to say its about the same. The biggest difference I would say is the rate of hands being dealt out and live tends to have much longer blinds structure.
When it comes to people chasing a gutter or the odds of something happening ie oe/ or fd
I find the same bad beats online and live.
Live i feel people are looser because
1. blind structure and due to how many hands per hour they get dealt
2. patience and discipline are integral parts of poker and is easier to do this while sitting in the comfort of your home and the casino can be very chaotic at times

but nevertheless if the same conditions were placed on online poker, people would adapt just the same as live ie blind structure/hands per hr

From my (little) experience superficially both venues are the same depending upon the stakes and other small considerations. Online is more volatile because of the rapidity of the deal and action of the players. Regarding rules, some of the most sophisticated players are online and these are the "techno/numbers" players. Live cash games are better than live tournament games (again, stakes dependent) but you won't win life changing amounts playing cash games so you need to have a mix of both..and don't forget about being staked which is a kind of insurance. When it comes to rules it comes down to card probabilities and reading players. Online you need also to contend with server outages, power outages and equipment failures. I have experienced these during the worst possible times but you learn to dwell in your respective environment and survive accordingly.

In my opinion, i would have to say that between online play and live play there really isn't a one harder than the other. other than the aspect that when your at a live table you can see the person's you are playing against and some people have little quirks that give away the hands there playing. otherwise I would say not so much harder one way or the other. but definitly different.

many pros and cons to online vs live, i prefer live it's slower and you can interract however for online there's freerolls ,micro mtts and to make the money is usually easier vs live plus online is convenient where like me the nearest casino is an hour and i don't drive

I would have to say that playing online is harder to play than live. reasons, because at a life table you can see the other players and if you watch you can catch little quirks some do that can tell you what type of hand there holding. online you don't have that option. It takes longer to get read on another player and by the time you do they of course move you to another table....lol;

I don't Know about this statement. I started playing live. after a year I went to online play. If you have a system down and play by said system you should be fine. Just remember what your position is and try to learn reads and make notes on players you see a lot. some people will go all in preflop with ANY pocket pair which to me is crazy especially 66 and under. So with notes and a solid play strategy you should be fine. remember you see many more hands a hour online then you would ever seen in live play

Do not be discouraged.

Be strategic!

To do well at poker, you must go through a learning curve. Read up on the game, join a coaching site like PokerschoolOnline by Pokerstars and enjoy informative videos.

Then take it to the tables and practice a little at a time. There are many skills in poker and many types of games and formats.

I am only now beginning to experience success in online poker and it is at the $.10 cent multi-table tourneys. I am following a plan based on my bankroll which requires much discipline.

Take your time. Enjoy as many freerolls as possible while you learn. Do not invest any money into this game that you cannot afford to lose.

I prefer live poker to online. Online, you play a lot more hands and variance will take its toll. So it appears as though you are getting more bad beats - but you are simply playing a lot more hands.

I have experienced many of the same sick jokes online as I do in real life. Online the frequency and probability is multiplied many fold.

I can not say that playing live is easier than online. There are game options. and if you like to be unrecognizable, then online is your world! it will not be something negative .. it is a state of your soul. Being a public person is not a very simple matter. and not everyone will cope with a lively game. everyone has a choice. and you decide which path to choose.

I guess it's easy to try because of free bets. A lot of Online casinos and Pokers rooms. But anyway it's easy to try and not just Poker. At the same time you can find slots, BJ and another.

Live vs. Online

Started off playing live learning all the tricks and tips I could along the way. I have faired pretty well but traveling and sitting at a casino or a charitable after working all day doesn't have the same appeal anymore. So, I took up online poker, and boy has the learning curb been tough for me. The face to face interaction is what I miss the most, and because I play either freerolls or microstakes, I find the suckout percentage much higher than I have when I play live. My starting hand range has also gotten a lot looser and I find myself calling out of position as well as limping connectors a lot more than I do live. The ease of clicking a button maybe, I don't know.
