I have always enjoyed using the "show cards" feature as a part of my strategy.
Since I'm typically a tighter player, I like to find spots where I'm weak, but where I also think my opponent is weak. If I can bet and get my opponent to fold, I'll show the table my cards, I'll show them the bluff. This helps me to erase any tight image I might have up until that point. And now that my image is more of a bluffer, hopefully I can immediately pick up a premium hand and be able to use my new image for additional profit.
Sadly, it seems the trend in
online poker is for sites to eliminate our ability to show our cards. I know many poker coaches teach their students that they should never show their cards to their opponents, and for beginner players, I completely agree with that advice. The problem is, for advanced players, I totally DISAGREE with that advice, I believe showing your cards with strategic intent is a profitable decision, and for the
poker sites to take this tool away from us is terribly misguided and wrong.
