My family doesn't approve poker. I dont blame them though, at times my mood gets adversely affected by bad day of play.

I live alone. I don't even have a pet, so no one distracts me, and I actually play as much as I want. More precisely, I play as much as my free time allows me. My family is neutral about my hobby. They are not happy but they are also not upset. They know that I am a disciplined and prudent player and never criticize me.

For 45 years my priorities have always been family first, poker second. Excluding my pro years in brick-and-mortar casinos back in the 80s, I limit myself from two to six hours a day broken up into several sessions. Back in the 80s, if a game was going exceptionally well with a few fish, I could easily play for up to 24 hours. My previous wife liked the money and understood, but I don't have that kind of stamina anymore. My current wife is a multi-millionaire, but she respects my choice of income and entertainment and doesn't deny me the pleasure of playing. When we go on trips, I leave the laptop at home and spend all my time with her.
