Does poker help pay off your debts?

I wait my dreams come true, but for years always a dream.

Maybe you are different.

I don't know how much money do you earn with your extra jobs, but depending of the amount I think it's possible to win by playing online poker.

I don't have debts nor did I make any big poker earnings

Placing money into anything that you're not good at or understand fully isn't a good way to make money. It doesn't make sense.

That's not a job where you just show up and collect your money for your time. Even if you're retired there should be cashier jobs and something folks can do besides related to gambling.

Not only do you have to understand what you're doing but you need to know how to deal with the psychological ups and downs of the games and other things like money management, so its complicated. Its more than show up, put a smile on and clock out.

Its basically running a business and most folks can't do it.

If you try it GL but there are a lot more easier ways to make money in this world.

No I don't play to pay off debts lol I'm not that good but I think it's setting up for failure if your playing to pay off things. It means you don't have a true bankroll and aren't in the right head space to be playing long term

Poker is a hobby for me, and I treat the game as entertainment. I make decent money on my main job, and somehow I don't really think about making a profit from the game. Although in general I have quite good results.

I don't live from poker because I take it as a hobby but I have sometimes managed to win money that has allowed me to pay debts and buy some things..

if you dedicate time and study to poker the results will come, that's why if you can't learn just look for a coach to teach you and you can get profits and overcome each level to the top, if you can, you have to be perseverant and very disciplined.

I don't think poker is the place to go for extra winnings. I do not recommend you enter the world of poker with that thought. But if I recommend poker to distract you and have a good time. Only professionals earn monthly profit. Very few Amateurs earn enough to make a living from poker.

Not at all. I think you need to dedicate yourself to poker to be able to pay your debts and live on it. Mine is only paying internet bills but I'm playing rarely.

Life is brutal. I treat poker gaming as a hobby and good entertainment because it's hard to live from poker (maybe in the future). You must build big bankroll and of course have a little bit of luck to become profesional poker player to stay afloat.

I do small furniture restoration work in my woodworking shop, which I earn complements my expenses, but the problem is that I don't always have service, so in the meantime I don't have that gain. But I'm afraid to risk online poker, because I would have to play a little more expensive tournaments, as I currently only play freerolls. But thanks for the opinion.

I think you must be a professional for that level, because if you are an amateur I doubt it very much. You would have to have a very good box to be able to play poker and in turn pay the debts right there. Cheers

Better to be a fun player, and have stable income, instead of playing poker with huge expectations.

I've been playing poker online since 2009, I've won, I've lost, I've already received as well as at the beginning, I bought chips to play, I haven't bought it for many years, I like Poker as a hobby, fun and pleasure, I don't think about winning millions, but if it happens, you will be welcome, I am also retired.

Hi Gritz18, I'm retired too, so I know where you are coming from. Here's my story. I'm married to a multi-millionaire, but I try not to be a burden on her financially. Her daughter does enough of that. Hence, I drive around in an old beat up 98 Dodge truck. I do love that truck, but that's beside the point. Bought it with poker winnings. I'm quite conservative when it comes to money. Also have an old 2003 motorcycle that I bought with winnings and annually go on cross-country rides to visit my son's family in Florida. And I love that motorcycle. I live in California. Wouldn't trade either of them for anything new, that's for sure even though my wife has offered.

Here's my poker history. Played professionally in the 1980s. Lost my $200,000 stake when my brother pulled a scam on me. He meant well, but the business transaction that couldn't lose went sour. Told him he could take $20,000 out of my account; he took it all. Then my 15-year-old son committed suicide, and I was pretty much worthless to anyone and everyone for a long time. Eventually, I picked myself up by the bootstraps and went back to work. This was in the nineties, and I started playing poker online. Increased my stake to several thousand, then lost almost all of it on Black Friday when the government illegalized online gambling for fears of illegal money laundering. Since then, the casinos that are open to the US public are regulated so I hope that doesn't happen again, though the American Indians are trying to get legislation passed to illegalize online gambling again because they say it affects their profit margin too much. A few years ago, I started playing online again. Bought in with $25 and played in $2 1cent 2cent blind games and gradually increased my buy ins as my stake increased. Once I reached about $100 I started playing in $3 triple up SNGs. Over time I increased my triple up buy ins to $7, then $15, then $25, and now I play in $50 buy in triple up SNGs with a $15,000 stake. I play in other games, such as ring games and freeroll tournaments, but mostly for pleasure. Technically, I can lose as much as $600 in a day or win as much as $1,200 in a day, though that's rare. Typically, I win about $100 to $200 a day. Currently, I'm saving up to buy a sailboat. Well, that's my story.

If you're a poker fan, you won't get any money for your debts. I've got enough pocket money and that's it.

I still consider myself a recreational player precisely because I can't live exclusively from poker, but that's my goal
