Right after the Moneymaker "boom", I started playing and "dreaming" like everyone else. In fact, Chris made it look so easy and especially "very possible". As time went by, it became clear that it actually wasn't that easy nor so very possible.
With learning material, patience, lots of deposits and the acquired experience as a result, I started cashing in here and there but never to the level of the above mentioned dreams ! So after about 10 years, during which I barely ended up breaking even, I had to make a decision : change my approach or quit. The latter was out of question : I've always loved challenges, problem solving and head breaking puzzles. Moreover, poker is one of the top best games known throughout Human History.
After a break of a couple of months and some thinking, I finally came up with with the following :
..No more great expectations from poker.
..Only play to enjoy the game.
..No deposits (
freerolls when necessary).
Maybe I should add : If something comes out of it, it'll be welcomed and appreciated.
For the last 9 years now, I haven't made one single deposit, I have a decent bankroll and I enjoy playing freerolls and low-stakes.
That was me from dreaming to becoming realistic. I hope this could help someone...
