It was easier to make money in online poker in past before 2012. Player have multple resource improve thier skill level (free content such as cardchat's 30 day poker course, poker training sites, use of solvers and certain twitch streamers).

The best time of online poker for me was before the black friday of poker in 2011. It used to be so easy to win money in online poker, no matter if you were a freeroll player or a real money player.

I think it was much easier. There are millions more plyeers now, nad most study hard and work at he game. Forget about online. You used to be able to win online, now its all cheating. Ghosts, Bots, RTAs, HUDs, multiple players at a table against you. There is no chance unless you are one of the cheaters.

i will only speak as micro player
on micro stakes, yes, you can still earn some pocket money. even today, micro stakes tournaments are very soft, and full of really bad players. and if i say bad players, i mean REALLY BAD players. if you understand basic concepts of poker, it can net you $50-100 here and there, with occasional $500+ hits.

I did not notice the difference in the game in the past 10 years ago and now. Maybe because then I was a beginner and it was harder for me to win, but now I am more experienced and it became easier for me to play. What then was a lot of inexperienced young players that now.With the onset of the covid pandemic, there were even more new players.

Without a doubt it is more difficult to win money in poker today, players study more than in the past. I remember Patrik Antonius saying that before you only played with strong hands preflop and this has changed.

In the past, poker was much simpler. With the rise of the internet, that has changed a lot. Players with wide access to knowledge started to learn. Additionally, they received a lot of support in the form of software such as HUD and solvers.

it was easier in the past, also there was more promotions. in 888 it was almost impossible not to earn money with the crazy promotions those days.

I started playing quite recently and I'm also interested in how it was with poker 20 years and more ago.I think that in those days there were much fewer poker players and the tactics of the game were probably a little different.

I've been playing poker for quite some time. I think it was easier 30 years ago because no-limit hold'em was still a game for professionals because of the swings and unpredictability of the game, itself, imo. Five card draw was the most played game of my youth w/stud games being played by the more leather-skinned individuals. Poker was really a game of players and not the average citizen. So I think it was harder for the average person/player to make $ back in the day. Nowadays there is so much info and strategy for poker that it comes down to experience. With that being said poker is slightly harder to win at than, let's say, 20 years ago when Chris Moneymaker won the wsop and started the, now infamous, poker boom.

Some things used to be easier. For example, there used to be full tilt and you could have very nice freerolls where you could win money fairly easily. And because pokerstars was affiliated with fulltilt, you could transfer that money to pokerstars as well. And that's what I did when I played on pokerstars with the money I won from there. nowadays many people have a wide variety of poker tools but i don't think that should really scare anyone because in the end it's all about which cards you get and how you assess your opponent even though it might be an advantage to have such tools, i play without them and I don't always win (usually not lol) I also have a little luck from time to time and win sometimes. I wish everyone good luck and above all have fun at the tables.

Play Low Stakes Cash Games (The Micros) 99% of my experience in poker is in low stakes cash games online, the micros.
Play at Least NL10, Probably NL25.
Play a Tight and Aggressive Strategy.
Find the Tables With the Fish on Them.
Try Playing Tournaments or Sit and Gos.

Not much streams exc. HSP & PAD, no twitch back then, no free educational content or trainin sites, Huds were the exception not the norm so it was most definitely easier back then but you can still make money grinding online

I think if when I started online back in 2010... it was certainly easier than now... Today there are more resources and the players are more prepared than before to face the game...
