I agree with you, there are still a lot of players at the micros, who don't even know the basics of poker, and using bots at the micros is simply not cost effective.

I really don't play seriously anymore so I really don't know the poker scene anymore but I believe you will always have beginners/rec players playing and thinking they know more about games then they actually know.

Then you will have the folks that are really studying the games (and I'm NOT talking about watching poker entertainment but actual lessons and studying strategy books), knowing where they are on the learning ladder and moving up a rung or two taking the games seriously.

So if you improve your poker skills to beat most beginners then that really doesn't go away but then the real question is "are there more or less beginners/less skilled players entering into the market playing poker then there were during the poker boom?"

And without a doubt after Black Friday the answer is there are A LOT LESS now !

So technically since there are less beginners entering the casinos/market (at least in the American market) then in my opinion it WAS easier to make money before Black Friday.

BUT the point of my babble was, if you're skilled enough to recognize the beginners and beat them then you'll find the games and make money regardless.

Having almost unlimited access to all the poker material online, ofcourse players can improve themselves so game becomes harder in time.
On the reverse, having almost unlimited access to join poker sites, there always appear new(er) and weak(er) players.
So overall, imo, the difficulty is more or less the same.

So many people study and plays a lot that i think for me is very difficult, rather would like to have one big tournanent score...looks much less difficult then winning regulary.
