Poker is not a game for weaklings. You have to be tough at poker, or you'll be eaten alive.

Here are some quotes that reflect this point.

"If they're defenseless and can't defend themselves, you're in the right place."

Mike Caro, poker writer.

Many players draw a parallel between poker and life itself. Some consider poker to be the best illustration of the principle of the struggle for survival. Many have even read Sun Tzu's book The Art of War as a guide to poker strategy. Here's how poker compares to life.

"Like it or not, the whole essence of a person is revealed at the poker table, and if other players understand him better than he does, then he has no one to blame but himself. And if he is not able and not ready to look at himself from the outside, then he will be a loser both in cards and in life."

Anthony Holden, " The Big Game: A Year as a Professional Poker Player."
Scotty Nguyen- "its all over baby"

Mine was actually something a commentator said, when Phil Helmuth was looking down at a piece of paper during a tourney. He said:

"He's probably looking at hand rankings."

"Every time you play a hand differently from the way you would have played it if you could see all your opponent's cards, they gain; and every time you play your hand the same way you would have played it if you could see all their cards, they lose. Conversely, every time opponents play their hands differently from the way they would have if they could see all your cards, you gain; and every time they play their hands the same way they would have played if they could see all your cards, you lose." -- David Sklansky
