Guy was playing NLO8, and he'd make "single chip raises" so that it looks like a tiny raise, but its actually huge. And thus, fish would erroneously call, because it looks like just like a min-raise, except its in dollars rather than cents.

Example:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to NU Starnes [Ad As 6c Td]
DirtyCuban69: folds
smaash: folds
vualuck: calls $0.50
I'm A Lookin: calls $0.50
NU Starnes: raises $50 to $50.50
BabyTay: folds
actrosity: folds
vualuck: folds
I'm A Lookin: calls $50
*** FLOP *** [Ts 5s 7d]
I'm A Lookin: checks
NU Starnes: bets $4.50
I'm A Lookin: folds
NU Starnes collected $99.25 from pot
NU Starnes: doesn't show hand
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $102.25 | Rake $3

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to NU Starnes [Qs 2c As Ad]
GizzyGurl: calls $0.25
flaVius: calls $0.25
NU Starnes: raises $25 to $25.25
flaVius: calls $25
*** FLOP *** [9c 7d Qc]
flaVius: checks
NU Starnes: bets $2.75
flaVius said, "wtf how did all my chips get in there"
GizzyGurl said, "lol"
flaVius said, "DAMMIT"
flaVius: raises $4.80 to $7.55 and is all-in
NU Starnes: calls $4.80
*** TURN *** [9c 7d Qc] [Ks]
*** RIVER *** [9c 7d Qc Ks] [Kd]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
flaVius: shows [2s Ah Td 8d] (HI: a pair of Kings)
NU Starnes: shows [Qs 2c As Ad] (HI: two pair, Aces and Kings)
NU Starnes collected $63.45 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $66.45 | Rake $3

I think that's the best one

I just read through it quickly, but I was laughing my ass off. Def worth a read when you can. But basically if he was playing a .10/.25 game, he would bet out $25 with any AAxx hand. He would get a caller thinking he min raised .25 and then bust them on the flop.

That last hand almost made me pee my pants.:D:D

haha--play nice :) Good to hear everything get sorted out also, Enty.

FYI Irexes is one of the few CC players at tables that doesn't play nice. I totally respect his stance, and I appreciated him being honest with me when I asked while we occasionally sit at the 100nl tables together.

what do you mean by "play nice" ?

it's always weird to be at a table with a fellow CC player, as we have spent so much time analysing hands together that we do know a lot about each other's styles and it means the game goes very much into "i know that he knows that i know that he knows..." levels.

That means if i get a CC member on my left, i'll stand up and look for another table. But not if he's on my right... :D

Are you guys aware that this was a $11 rebuy and not 100nl ? I know nothing from Rex's tournament except from what very little I saw railing some deep finishes, and even less about his play during rebuy period.

Plus his 5 BIG ASS stars made me wee my pants

Meh, only means he plays a lot, doesn't mean he plays well.

When you'll move up in ring games, the first supernovas you'll meet will be at 50nl. Those are super bad. I mean break-even and unimaginative, and you can exploit the hell out of them. Just because they have 5 stars doesn't mean much, on the contrary.

Of course, if you look up Rex on OPR, then you can start wetting your pants. :D

Absolutely.

Ring Rex =/= Tourney Rex

I'm getting there with ring by virtue of lots of study but I'm no big winner (yet). I'm up a few thousand $ since I started, but not killing the tables by any means. In the last month alone I've made half a dozen sizeable changes to my game. Getting supernova just means I play a lot.

Regarding the stars, I switch them on for tournaments as they do seem to affect table image. I have been known to bluff occassionally so this is a good thing. If I'm just playing ring I switch them off. Don't want the fishies to worry.

I know, and I've played with a number of sn's before. Both at 25nl and at $20 DoNs. The dudes at 25nl were probably just blowing off some steam, but the $20 DoN regs are definitely grinders.

Anyways, they all pale in comparison to some character named Zachvac. The biggest loser at 25nl in my db. Besides myself of course.

How to trap an over aggro fish :)

1) make nonsense bluff

Grabbed by Holdem Manager

Dealt to Hero 9K

fold, fold, Hero raises to $6, BTN raises to $18, fold, fold, Hero calls $12,

check, BTN bets $22, Hero raises to $70, BTN folds, , Hero shows 9K,

2) Play back at his retaliatory bluff

3) Profit!

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $2(BB) Replayer

(Flop 12.7%, Turn 0.0%)

Hero shows 79
(Flop 87.3%, Turn 100.0%)

Hero wins $413

annoying hand for the day, against a different but even worse fish that I couldn't trap. I think maybe I can fold the turn:

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $2(BB) Replayer
Hero ($501)
BB ($256)
UTG ($250)
UTG+1 ($320)
CO ($41)
BTN ($213)

Dealt to Hero KK

fold, UTG+1 raises to $8, fold, fold, Hero raises to $32, fold, UTG+1 calls $24,

FLOP ($66) 9JJ

Hero bets $46, UTG+1 raises to $92, Hero calls $46,

TURN ($250) 9JJA

check, UTG+1 bets $196, Hero calls $196,

RIVER ($643) 9JJA3

Hero shows KK
(Flop 9.6%, Turn 2.3%)

UTG+1 shows JK
(Flop 90.4%, Turn 97.7%)

UTG+1 wins $640

Feeling really good lately though. Last two days sucked in terms of results but I literally finished each session with a smile on my face and am loving how much self control I have now compared to a month ago. Feeling pretty ****in good :)
