Frustration

I am so glad I opened this post, I have been feeling the same "like the odds are stacked against me". I will take the advise displayed and analyse it. I keep blaming Poker Stars but now realize, that i have a lot to learn .... Thank you guys

I'm trying to learn how to play poker since July 2015, my 1st goal was to win 10 dollars from scratch. just in freerolls. I played 3 months to win my first 0.10 is not a great monetary value, but for me it was a great achievement, I finally started to win ... in this same time I met CardsChat and here I am since then .. I did not know exactly anything about poker, in my country casino is forbidden and we do not have the tradition of playing poker ... I knew that poker was a card game I saw in the old Western movies ... with 6 months of play I managed to win the 10.00 I think a little more .... I won an initial cardschat game of the league, where were all the good players of the cc .... (maybe this was the biggest of my victories so far) to win a field that knows a lot of poker without knowing how to play, that was a great victory .... but of course it was not by chance or luck, I had a strategy .... I tried to study poker theory but I did not understand anything .... a lots of terms in English ... I do not even know how to speak Portuguese which is my native language, inglihs not think .... so I started to watch the winners .... those who came from the last positions to get on the feet and those who took the lead and stood in front until the ... were 2 elected my friend Warren and my friend Nastena ... I watched them at the tables for 6 months and I managed to absorb a few plays even without knowing anything about poker or poker theory. my 2nd objective was to get 100.00 still from scratch only in freerolls .... with the help of cardschat and his wonderful freeroll in 2016 I won the 100.00 of bankroll .... it was a bit difficult because when I won some money in a freeroll tournament .... I ran to sit go in the PS and lost everything.
at the end of 2016 I met Orsino and his thread ... a kind of diary that he keeps here in the cc with his achievements at 888poker .... I realized that I gathered everything I won in freeroll and it was not like I was losing everything .. Following the strategy of Orsino I achieved my goal 100.00 .... in 2017 my goal was to reach 1k freeroll starting from scratch .... in August of 2017 I won 1.5k of bankroll with freeroll, small tournaments and blackjack .. ..Blackjack and cash game are good ways to make money fast, plus a tilt here is expensive and bankroll reaches zero very fast .... my goal for 2018 is 10k bankroll, I started investing in satellites for good 1M tournaments , again with the help of cardschat in 2018 I have already been able to play 3 major in ACR and Party tournaments ..... I have won some satellites in 888. I have not yet reached a good final position in the tournaments, but I am working to achieve

Doug Polk posted on 2+2 in 2007 about these same types of feelings. He stayed with it study more and now he's reach extreme success. I know that you feel you've put in the training but you have to read more, watch more and understand where you can improve. Every pro is talking to the next pro and watching videos and reading every chance they get. I've read some books lately that have opened my eyes to giant holes in my game. Other books that have allow me to see why players sucked out, called my bluffs and how I can increase the value of my hands. I've went from a tight passive player to a somewhat well balanced player capable of understanding why, when and how I should change gears.

It's a big difference in online play between face-to-face play.In online games you will play in your home in front of your computer and do not know who is on the other side, maybe your rival theme more than you and has some help from HUD.
In the face-to-face game, you can feel the behavior of your rival, through this you can make the best bluff decision.
By the way you have lost much more than you won in poker, and is taking several bad beats, I believe you have played a lot and lost in the same intensity.
As your goal is to play face-to-face, you are allowed to participate in some satellites of this level.
As you have not yet won in poker. My advice is not to bring more money because you will lose. Use the freerolls to improve and if you win the tables.

online poker is still very suspicious because the player does not know yet and the players at the tables are just robots. Even more so for those who played video game, and remember that the characters had intelligence articia.
The logic question also makes the game look suspicious, because when you make a strong bluff and the opponent calls on a card that has nothing to do with the five community cards on the table, you see which game is manipulated, because if you make the same play face the opponent fold

The poker is terrible, and poker player are have to be terrible, for win the gamer.

My whole goal with playing online poker was to make enough money to play live poker consistently, but I’m still not there yet and the pursuit has taken so much energy. I love playing poker and don’t want to give it up but it might be time to move on.

Invest in a little coaching a good coach will go over your history with you and help with your game instead of just general information . I thought I followed all the right moves until I had a coach look at my hud and hand history then he showed me how to get better and it worked fast

If you "love" it AND you can afford to continue playing, then the advice above to work hard to become a better player is good. But, if you're not sure, then maybe you don't "love" it as much as you tell yourself. If you're losing more than you can easily afford, or not making as much as you need to make, maybe it's time to reassess where you can realistically go with poker.

If you want to make a living from it, you HAVE to be good, plain and simple. Loving it is a bonus, making it easier to continue, but loving the game won't necessarily help you make a living from it. Being good IS necessary and that means winning and systematically building your bankroll over time. Being good comes from more than just loving it and hard work.

I'm not good enough to make a living from poker, so I play for entertainment. I don't lose money, but I don't consistently build my bankroll either. I know that and am okay with it. I still hate losing, and go into a little funk every time I do, but I'm not losing anything that I can't afford to lose.

I think it's normal to feel that way, although being a beginner has happened to me too. In my case I spent a month without playing practically anything when I felt like I went back and I became a constant routine, 4 hours a week and on average 16 at the weekends, I'm avoiding getting paranoid and thinking that the software is against me whenever I say it of variance and that it will not last forever.I hope this helps, good luck.

I have a medium knowledge of poker, game without software help, several times I get frustrated by losing in absurd situations where I read correctly and the river helps the villain, as much as I know that making the right choices will ensure that along of the time I perceive the results, in fact I do not see it and sometimes I go into tilt. To succeed, something more is needed.

I've already built a bank and lost everything a few times, every day I discover a new failure and start working on a solution, my goal is to stay in a few details of my game so that in a short time I can get better results.

Poker is a game in which you can do everything correctly and still lose. You will lose more often than win. It’s a game where frustrating situations are a regular occurrence. Sometimes a break is needed. As corny as it sounds when you think your gonna be beaten with your superior hands you will. Try to have a positive view of the game. Even in a losing situation we can look for the positives. If your getting it in good then you will eventually get on the best side of variance. Good luck.

Do not give up, continue to work and go to your goal.
If necessary, make a break, and continue to work hard.
You have to believe in yourself and you will succeed.

$200 a year... It's not too bad. I'm losing $500 in one day.

When I lost with AA

Take a little break. I think every poker players goes through this wehre their emotions are getting the best of them. Don't let the attitude of thinking you're unlucky affect your play. Do some studying on your break and come back fresh!

I also had such moments, when I realized that I could not do anything. But in such cases, I did a break, I was doing something fundamentally different and it helped.

rustration is something that makes us bad .. we have to be satisfied with our game .. you could take some time and read a little .. not because you lack wisdom but because it will do you good .. to clear up a bit and go back to the tables

Anytime I get frustrated with poker I try to get myself back to the fun part of the game. If you planned on spending x in the next week of grinding, take that and play a few sats to a major later in the week. Only play a few a day until you win a seat and take a break till the tournament. Take the extra time to study (review hands, plug hands into a solver, read forums). The anticipation of playing the big tourney usually helps "part the clouds" for me at least. Basically, get back to when poker was fun, however you get there. Def not GTO but helps me break the monotony.

I see you have a dream and I believe you should never give them up. Maybe the problem is just strategic, I do not know if you do review your tournaments, but perhaps analyzing it calmly you will find your mistake. I hope you do not give up and have a positive progression in your chart. I wish all luck at the tables.

i'd love to chat with you about this here (quote my stuff so i get the email notification) or pm since i'm just starting my poker journey. i want to play well enough to consistently with draw 200 or so per month from my poker account (which currently has less than two dollars, won on freerolls lol). could you tell us about your 3000 hours, what games you selected, how many days/hours you played? there's probably a way to take a break or relax your play a bit to both get your joy back at the table and to figure out how good you actually are.

I suggest you go play live. I don't know how anyone can consistently win playing online. Some of the hands I see are so ridiculous I have a very hard time believing the sites I play on use a random program.

You cant have this attitude, even if youre playing well, you have to keep trying to improve... If its really just run bad, it will correct itself eventually...
